An Epic Voltron Blast From the Past at Dreamworks

We attended as a guest of Netflix

When I heard that Voltron was coming back to Netflix, I was over the moon excited. Growing up a “tomboy” Voltron was one of my favorite series as a child, and I couldn’t wait to learn more about how Netflix and Dreamworks were going to bring the series back to life. I headed up to Los Angeles for a couple of days to learn about the making of the new Voltron: Legendary Defender series along with the upcoming series, Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh.

I checked into the chic Hotel Amarano excited for an epic adventure. Shortly after checking into the hotel, I joined the other journalist for dinner at Hyperion Public where we spent the evening sharing our favorite Voltron memories together. It was a blast from the past as we all reminisced about our childhood while sharing our excitement together about going to the Dreamworks Animation Studios the next morning.

That evening, I could barely sleep because I was overwhelmed with excitement. Once I did drift off to sleep, I spent the night dreaming about my favorite Voltron episodes. When the sun began to rise, the time had come to go to Dreamworks and get the inside scoop on the series.

Breakfast at Dreamworks

Upon arriving at the studio, we were greeted by a cuddly Oh and Toothless from “How to Train your Dragon.” We enjoyed breakfast while taking pictures with the beloved characters. Then the time had come to enter the theater where we watched the first three episodes of Voltron: Legendary Defender. The series was better than I could have imagined. It was full of action, adventure, and friendship.

Voltron Voiceover

The fun continued as we had a chance to meet with the cast (Tyler Labine, Josh Keaton, Rhys Darby, and Kimberly Brooks). We were able to talk with them about the creation of the series, and see the passion that the actors have for making the series the best that it possibly can be. Then we had a rare opportunity to do a real voiceover from the series, play a fun game of Voltron basketball, and had a Voltron themed lunch with the cutest Voltron cupcakes.

The second part of the day, we got to learn about the upcoming series Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh before heading back to the hotel. Voltron: Legendary Defender is currently available on Netflix, and is a series that you’re not going to want to miss sharing with your children.
