Batsheva Dance Company: Decadence

Posted by on Feb 23, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue. One thing I absolutely love doing is taking time away and dipping in the arts. This venue was no ordinary dip…it an artistic plunge! Segerstrom Center for the Arts presented Israel’s acclaimed Batsheva Dance Company in the Segerstrom Hall for a special one-night-only engagement. This ballet company brought in a whole new revolutionized dance. After sinking back in my red velvet-plush theatre chair at the Segerstrom Hall, I couldn’t help but be excited! The Batsheva Dancers awed the crowds from beginning to end. It was poetry in motion watching the performers drift, almost effortlessly, across the stage. For five decades, the Batsheva Dance Company has been considered one of the foremost contemporary dance companies in the world. I’ve had the privilege of attending many ballets in my lifetime (the Royal Opera...

World Premiere of Fuller House

Posted by on Feb 26, 2016 in Entertainment, Television Shows | 0 comments

My daughter squealed with delight and almost hyperventilated when she found out OC Mom Blog was invited to attend the Premiere of “Fuller House.” She jumped up and down and said, “Really mom, you mean we get to see D.J., Uncle Jesse, and the stars of the show?” I calmed her down and said, “Let’s just enjoy it for the moment and remember, that they are just people!” Then she belted out, “Mom, you don’t understand, they are not just people they are ‘the’ people! I’ve watched every episode from beginning to end, some two to three times and even watched Jesse over and over!” The “Fuller House” Premiere was fantastic to attend at the Grove in Los Angeles. The red carpet (graced with green grass), bright lights and exciting cast members were just some of the awesome...

Feel-Good Family Film ‘Eddie the Eagle’

Posted by on Feb 26, 2016 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I had the distinct pleasure of attending the screening of the film “Eddie the Eagle” at Fox Studios in Los Angeles. Entering the gates at 20th Century Fox was a memorable treat in itself, and was the perfect introduction to this beautiful film. I was greeted by personnel in a golf cart who swept me off my feet as I took in the Fox Lot nostalgia. The driver dropped me off at a cafe, as I had arrived at the screening early. I noticed the freshly manicured green ivy archways and meandering paths that lead up to an open field of umbrella picnic tables for Fox employees to enjoy their work breaks. Suffice it to say, Fox Studios makes their visitors feel special, and me feel – extraordinary. As I entered the historic William Fox Theatre, I could...

Hugh Jackman Soars in ‘Eddie the Eagle’

Posted by on Feb 23, 2016 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

A ski jumper who never stopped believing in himself. With the help of a rebellious and charismatic coach played by Hugh Jackman, he takes on the team, and wins the hearts of sports fans around the world in “Eddie the Eagle.” Jackman plays a troubled coach who learns that disappointments in life can either harm or propel one to have a better, more fulfilled life. As a Mom, my interview with Jackman was one of the most engaging, insightful interviews I’ve ever attended. Jackman was forthright in providing insight into why this role meant so much to him as a father of two children. Jackman gladly took the challenge of playing the coach in “Eddie the Eagle,” because in his words, “It is a movie that helps people understand that they don’t have to win to be a...

Kate Hudson Dishes on Motherhood and Kung Fu Panda 3

Posted by on Jan 13, 2016 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

DreamWorks invited Kate Hudson to sit down with me and a group of bloggers to share her thoughts on motherhood and two boys and her latest film “Kung Fu Panda 3.” Meeting Kate Hudson is like having her walk out from your favorite movie. But this time, the cameras are off, and she is just as natural and kind as one would imagine her to be. Anyone who has spent time with Kate Hudson would agree that her winning smile, strong work ethic, and natural acting ability, has added up to the great person she is. Her stellar performances show us a level of dedication she boldly invests in her craft. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s hard work ethic has inspired Kate’s work but has not defined it. She has a unique, unassuming presence that makes her so...

Planes, Hiking and Adventure at Kite Hill in Laguna Niguel

I know a super cool place where I can take the kids from time to time and escape life’s daily (understandable) pressures. The kind of pressures we all face like: the unending carpool lane at school, or the mind numbing time spent waiting on the phone for an answer from the insurance company while the kids are in a heated spat. Or the feeling the refrigerator is a bottomless pit and you need to return to the grocery store a third time that week after you work all day, only to have the kids inform you, “Mom, we are OUT of food again!” All of these so-called pressures are small when we compare it to the bigger picture of life: keeping a family together and giving them some “outdoor” exposure to our ever changing world. As a mother,...

A Snow White Christmas

Posted by on Dec 24, 2015 in Uncategorized | 2 comments

FOUR more days until the FINAL curtain call to be a part of the Lythgoe Family PANTO Production! I was a guest of the performance in Laguna Beach’s “world renown” Laguna Playhouse. Wow! WHAT a FANTASTIC time! I would definitely say its a “FEEL GOOD” family musical–quoted by the LA Times! This British Panto production showcases an amazing talent of cast leads. Glee’s Lindsay Pearce, Nickelodeon Star Jonathan Meza, and Star Treks Marina Sirtis to name a few. As a mother, sometimes I feel as though the Holiday Season progresses in warp speed and whisks by in a blink of an eye. This season, it has been my wish to slow down –live for the present and enjoy it’s many nuances of goofy giggles, memorable sibling exchanges and quality down time with Daddy. I ask myself if there...

Posted by on Nov 20, 2015 in Christmas, Events, Holiday | 4 comments

My family and I were guests at the HGTV Santa headquarters in Lakewood Center. We were excited to tour this “one of a kind” Santa’s 3D workshop. The headquarters was unlike anything I’ve seen! !) There was laughter and smiles abound as we entered this make-believe 3D world. It’s located in the center of the Lakewood Mall adjacent to Macy’s….Easy to access by the centers open parking lot just outside. We were greeted by reindeer staff that told us to PREPARE for a special, interactive JOURNEY. We felt transplanted into a land of Christmas trees, and visual HGTV creations….with music and “hands on” activities for all kids (and BIG kids like Mom and Dad too❤️)! The smell of chocolate chip cookies filled the air. As we entered this HGTV creative 3D experience, there was a gold porthole that...

Gizmo’s A Plenty at the Child Creativity Lab

Posted by on Nov 7, 2015 in Education, Family, Parenting, Shopping | 2 comments

My daughter and I were guests at the Grand Opening of the Child Creativity Lab We attended the Grand Opening of the Child Creativity Lab in Santa Ana. As a former elementary school teacher, I’ve always gravitated to the expression: –With ART, anything’s possible! There is NOTHING more satisfying and fulfilling for children than to be able to express themselves openly and without judgment. We know now, there is a window of time in their development where if they don’t use it- They LOSE IT. …Tell me it isn’t SO?!….. Internet…TV…..technology…are awesome avenues but it could be hurting our kids? I’m a tad guilty AT TIMES allowing my kids time on iPads, video games and watching TV … but with creative outlets like the Child Creatively Lab—the world’s their explorative oyster! My ten year old daughter and I jumped...
