House of Blues Opening Night Delivered

Posted by on Apr 3, 2017 in Events | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue It’s so good to have you back House of Blues. You sure were missed! We were lucky enough to see the venue a few months back while it was still under construction; making it even cooler after seeing the vision of what was to come. The space in all its grandeur on opening night was even more than what we expected; absolutely stunning! House of Blues in Anaheim at the Garden Walk opened its doors on February 28th, and we were there to take it all in. It has stayed true its classic House of Blues feel yet with a modern twist; high ceilings with an industrial vibe, full of color and cool spaces. Walking in it was as though we were home and ready to immerse ourselves in good food,...

We dined as a guest of the venue We had the chance to visit Sapphire in Laguna Beach this past week for an unforgettable evening sampling of a few of their delicious menu items. Sapphire is about to celebrate their 10th Anniversary! We’ve been to many restaurants in the local area. However, this was my first time visiting Sapphire Laguna. Chef Azmin is a world explorer in the kitchen sharing a variety of spices and flavors from around the world, and with all of us! We loved the immersion of different cultures within the small bites placed before us. The evening was full of one delicious surprise after another. We were provided with an array of samplings including Shrimp & Pork Steamed Wontons with Chili Oil – one of my favorites. I can’t forget about the Shrimp Warka; a...

A Girls Night Out at Corks & Canvas

Posted by on Feb 22, 2017 in Events | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue Recently, I had the chance to attend a really cool monthly event; Corks & Canvas, hosted by Fire + Ice at the GardenWalk in Anaheim. The funny thing is, I had just added a night out to go painting on my list of must do’s for the year ahead, I’m big on broadening my experiences each year. I was even more excited since this would allow me to revisit my love of painting; something I haven’t done for about ten years now. Venturing out in the rain this evening, I found I wasn’t going to let a little water from the sky stop me from painting and following my passion again. Corks & Canvas is all about enjoying an evening of painting! I loved that our instructor was from the local...

We dined as a guest of the venue If you’ve been following us on social media, then you are aware of how we’ve become very fond of the new menu items at Las Brisas. While staying loyal to favorite traditional dishes here, we love to explore the new entrées that are being introduced to complement their menu. One recent morning we were invited to dine and enjoy a fantastic breakfast at Las Brisas. What’s better than Las Brisas on a beautiful, bright, crisp morning after a fresh rain the night before? Seated inside with a gorgeous view of the ocean, we were grateful for the opportunity to slow down for a bit during the holidays to share time and an excellent meal together. If you’ve been to Las Brisas, you know the views are stunning! Chef Johannes continues to...

We visited as a guest of the venue Do you ever have those moments in life where you feel so lucky to be exactly where you are at the moment? Well, we had one of those experiences when we visited the 29 Palms Inn. Sometimes you get the chance to discover a real gem! The property is so unique that we wanted to explore it immediately but the sun was setting on this special evening, and we needed to locate our cottage.  We visited as a guest of the venue Did you know that you can go horseback riding in Big Bear? Yes! This mom of adventure had no idea. I’m here to tell you; it is such an amazing way to take in the mountains! Recently, I was with a group of friends visiting Big Bear, and while a few of us had been on a horse in the past year, some of us hadn’t in about ten years. So we were happy to discover that we could have a guide join us who knew the trail and the behaviors of each horse. Collectively, we were ready to do this and trust our horses to lead the way. Baldwin Lake Stables in Big Bear pairs each rider with the perfect horse; based on an individual’s body type and experience. I...

Posted by on Dec 28, 2016 in Dining, Family | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue After a busy day on the road, we popped into the Lighthouse Cafe in Newport Beach to help in celebrating the restaurant’s one year anniversary. If you haven’t been to the bright, airy and relaxing waterfront restaurant; make a plan to go soon. You’ll enjoy the architecture of the Lighthouse Cafe with large windows overlooking the harbor, a modern rotating chandelier overhead and seating around the perimeter; offering a great view from each table. Seriously, there isn’t a bad view in the house. We enjoyed some delicious menu items prepared on this evening, by Chef Ryan Sumner. A few favorites he shared with us were a mouth watering Short Rib that will melt in your mouth accompanied by a Grilled Mushroom; you’ll find this dish to be comforting and full of...

We dined as a guest of the venue We were excited to find out that Habana in Costa Mesa created a great New Years Eve bash to ring 2017! “The End of Embargo” will usher in this New Year here at Habana with a classy, fun, beautiful environment feeling as if you decided to visit Cuba this year. Good news, you can do this locally in Costa Mesa. On a recent rainy evening, we walked through the door at Habana with a lovely, warm welcome as if we were visiting good friends. The inviting red glow around the bar area was full of smiling faces with a low whisper of conversation. We noticed intimate spaces in the restaurant both inside and out under the tree tops. The restaurant felt so inviting, but because of the taps of rain coming...

We attended as a guest of the venue In the midst of the holidays, we wanted to take some time for us; the big kids wanted to have some fun! So we popped over to Brew Ho Ho, Holiday Ale Festival on December 10th at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim. After all, we know our local area creates some amazing brews! We saw the list of breweries participating and although we had only visited a handful; this was a great way to learn about more of them. Each brewery gave a couple of choices; usually, a sampling of their most liked beer and a clever, holiday blend available seasonally. This event was the perfect way to explore with over 80 breweries participating; some familiar but several we didn’t even know about yet. Choices. So many choices. Which tent should...

Sponsored We were recently invited to be a guest at The Harvest Restaurant in Laguna Beach. This gorgeous new gem has emerged in what we previously knew as Ben Brown’s at the Aliso Creek Inn and Golf Course. If you’re like us, you have very fond memories of visiting for dinner to celebrate special occasions with family throughout the years. The Harvest Restaurant’s new design is progressive and open with inviting views of the golf course and canyon; while still preserving the nostalgia of the property. We found ourselves exploring the various spaces; both inside and outside on the deck, slowly relaxing and breathing in the scenery. Our favorite surprise of the evening was Chef Charles Imbelli, who was recognized by Zagat as “30 under 30”. He invites you to embark on an adventure to experience his specially chosen...

We visited as a guest of the venue On a recent Friday evening we had the chance to pop into Holiday, a charming yet classy cocktail lounge in Costa Mesa. After a very long week, it was nice to stroll into the newly opened Red Room and sit down with friends to relax. We found a cool little vibe; with some sweet, private seating areas and red leather sofas, high back chairs and of course, seating at the bar too. We tried out the bar since we wanted the chance to interact with Andy the bartender. The bartender can often be key to a great place; Andy is friendly, cheerful and somehow knew the perfect drink for each of us. The Red Room, which opened last weekend and has a specialty menu featuring four new cocktails. We were given...

We visited as a guest of the venue Who likes going to the spa? We do! Last week we had the luxury of celebrating with Pacific Waters Spa at the Hyatt in Huntington Beach, CA It’s a lovely annual treat that Pacific Waters Spa hosts as a thank you to their loyal patrons. It’s a festive, social evening throughout the spa; allowing you time to meander through a variety of spaces while discovering pampering opportunities. Women casually sipping wine, laughing and talking while learning about featured facial products and fun takeaway items to sample at home. My favorite was the spa’s mini samplings of their daily services; giving us the opportunity to try a mini massage and/or facial. We signed up for the mini HydraFacial; a non-invasive resurfacing of the skin with no downtime. It’s true! No downtime; no...

Seeing the Archives filled with so many Disney memories; props from movies, television shows, theme park pieces and the mass volumes of books alone was amazing! Do you know they preserve every video, book, record, script and publication? Yes, when a film wraps they choose the most iconic pieces to archive. We found ourselves in complete awe...

Upon arrival at Ventura Harbor, we were greeted by Cherryl from Island Packers, the boat that will take us on the quick hour trip across the sea. Island Packers has been in business for 47 years, as we learned Cherryl’s dad owned the company which she enthusiastically continues to oversee. The boat will carry 100 people max, so make sure you reserve early. A few helpful tidbits to know before traveling on your island adventure, especially if you plan on staying awhile to enjoy the islands. You can purchase food and beverages on the boat,...
