Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Hits Theaters Today!

Posted by on May 26, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended the screening as a guest of Disney When I first heard that the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean would be coming to theaters, I was a bit surprised.  It had been a number of years (6 to be exact) that we last saw a Pirates movie.  My son was very excited as this would be the first Pirates movie he would be old enough to see in theaters.  I was a bit more hesitant.  After all, they have had four other movies out there.  What will episode 5 bring for us? And so this past Friday, we as a family caught a preview of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Our favorite pirate, Jack Sparrow, returns to the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean. Joining him is the frenemy Geoffrey Rush...

Interview with the Cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Posted by on May 24, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

I attended the interviews as a guest of Disney. The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth installment in the Pirates of The Caribbean Story will be released in theaters this Friday, May 26th.  The origins of the movie series goes back to the Disney ride of the same name and frankly my favorite ride of the park. One of the most enduring characters that have come to the movie screens in the past 14 years has been the portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow by Johnny Depp.  Not to mention the supporting characters played by some the Hollywood elite Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightly, Geoffrey Rush and joining the cast this time around Javier Bardem. I had an incredible opportunity to spend time with some of the cast this past weekend and interviewed them about the...

The Wizard of Oz at The Laguna Beach Playhouse

Posted by on May 11, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue On Saturday my daughter and I had an afternoon theater date at the Laguna Beach Playhouse.  The show was Wizard of Oz and was brought to life by a marvelous group of actors. The play is based on the famous movie and follows Dorothy’s travels through the Land of Oz. If you have never seen a play at the Laguna Beach Playhouse, you must attend a show at least once.  The location is cozy and every seat has a great view of the stage.  Before the show the courtyard has some activities, with the lobby inside serving drinks and snacks.  The shows tend to offer meet and greet with the cast after the show. For our show the lobby offered raffle prize of a beach bike (super cool yellow beach cruiser and...

Family’s First Time Experiencing Disney on Ice

Posted by on May 1, 2017 in Disney, Events | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue For years, it was my intention to take the kids to Disney On Ice show. And while my intentions were clear, by the time I would find out about the show the event was sold out.  Then finally, like magic (perhaps with a little Disney fairy dust sprinkled on it), I managed to get Disney On Ice tickets at the Long Beach Arena.  Oh, but the magic did not end there!  You ask how?  My daughter’s birthday happened to be a few days before the show.  We informed her that we would have the usual party for her birthday, but a nice surprise is waiting for her a few days later.  Why not right after the party?  It is because I wanted her to appreciate both events individually.  The logic seemed...

Storymakery: a Perfect Daddy/Daughter Night Out

Posted by on Feb 9, 2017 in Education, Hot Topics, Shopping | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue One of the activities my wife and I like to do from time to time is spend an evening with each child one on one.  With that in mind on Friday night, my daughter and I had a planned activity. Trying to figure out an activity that is fun, educational and unique was my focus for the week prior to our night out. Fortunately for me, I was given an opportunity to visit Storymakery at Irvine Spectrum. While I was not fully familiar with the store, the evening’s plan was very intriguing. The activity would start by local author, Jeannie Fung reading her book (Hawaii) and then answering some questions. After that, the kids would each write their own stories and get it published. I thought that ending the evening with a...

A Special Pen for my Superhero

Posted by on Jun 14, 2016 in Father's Day, Shopping | 0 comments

Sponsored My love affair with pens started many years ago, when I was 11 years old. My father gave me my first pen set that was not disposable. It was a Cross pen and pencil silver set that he had gotten me for my birthday. I loved that set so much, it took me several months to just take it out of the box.  But I used it on daily basis (at home), as I was too afraid to take it to school. At the time, my father presented the pen set to me, he explained that my grandfather had also given him his first nice pen set when he was 11. Apparently this was some sort of a family tradition. The pen gifts did not stop when I passed the age of 11; they reappeared when I graduated from High...

Daddy and Daughter Date Night at Images Luxury Nail Lounge

Posted by on Feb 11, 2016 in Beauty, Family, Fashion | 0 comments

Beginning of the year has a higher workload for me.  As such, I try to put aside time to spend with the kids.  As part of that, I like to spend one on one time with each of them, that way I can ask them questions without the other jumping in with their response. Spending time with my son is pretty easy; we go to the comic book store, and then we catch a burger.  But with my daughter, I was having a harder time figuring out an activity that would entertain both of us.  She was not into comics.  So I asked her, what she likes to do.  Her immediate response was manicure and pedicure (or as she likes to say “Mani and Pedi”). Now, that was not an answer I was expecting. I thought this is something...

The Richard Petty Driving Experience in Las Vegas

Posted by on Jan 22, 2016 in Autos, Featured, Las Vegas, Travel | 1 comment

My heart is pounding.  I can barely contain myself.  I am literally inches away from a NASCAR vehicle and a track to drive it on.  My jumpsuit and helmet are making me feel like the real pro, but my inexperience shows as they ask me to jump in the car.  Wait the car has no doors, so how do I get in? Lift left leg first through the opening for the window… oy, I should have stretched. Let me go back a few weeks.  In November we made plans to visit Las Vegas, by now a family tradition of visiting the oasis in the desert.  The intention is to go visit my wife’s cousin and her daughter that live there; but we manage to squeeze in one unique experience each time.  Each experience till now has been meticulously...

We attended as a guest of Feld I came home one day from work only to find my wife and son excitedly waiting for me.  When the wife is waiting for you by the garage door; you immediately think of all the things you were supposed to do and have not done. Moment of panic hit me as I was trying to figure out what to apologize for.  However, since my son was also waiting for me – there was an external factor out there that I could not think of.  After pulling into the garage and greeting the family; I casually asked what was up. Ready and armed with a long list of apologies (You don’t want to go over board or the wife will know you are not really sorry).  I was told that we had two...

OC Dad Dedicated to Getting Fit

Posted by on May 6, 2014 in Family, Fitness, Health | 0 comments

The second half of my adventures at the Renaissance Club Sport during first week was more focused on all the amenities the place offers. They are more than a gym, I would say. There are lots of things that add up to a big bonus. First there are the facilities besides the gym section – the locker room comes with steam room and hot sauna and Jacuzzi. Once you are done with those activities you can take a shower in one of the luxury showers and change. After leaving the locker room, head over to the Citrus Express. They have approved meals, snacks, and smoothies for post work out refueling. All menu items are approved by the trainers and will provide you with the necessary energy. Now, one thing I noticed while working out, there are quite a...

OC Dad Dedicated to Getting Fit at Renaissance Club Sport Aliso Viejo

The OC Mom Blog supports the RCSAV The hardest part of reaching a goal is to understand the end. When I started my MBA program, on our first day of orientation our Dean of school wrote down a date. It was three years into the future, and he explained that it was our graduation date. It would make it easier when things get a little tough. With that mindset I started my new road to losing 20 pounds. I have been working out on and off for the past two years with little success. First six months I did manage to lose about 5 pounds but I hit a plateau and didn’t know how to get out of it. Eventually it was a losing battle. Not this around – that is my new motto. I started my new journey...

Creating Family Memories at Monster Jam

Posted by on Jan 26, 2014 in Events, Family, Featured | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of Monster Jam I first came to hear about Monster Truck shows back in 1985 when we moved to the United States.  At the time, I didn’t know much about the culture here in Southern California, but the Monster trucks provide a universal appeal to any teenage boy. Unfortunately, I never made it to one of those shows.  Many years later, my wife informed me that we had tickets to Saturday night’s Monster Jam!  Imagine my surprise to hear we were going to see this show – I have to admit that I didn’t think it appealed to me anymore, but my son (who is 8) was over the moon. Saturday night as we walked into the Angel’s Stadium we could feel the excitement of the crowd. The show hadn’t begun but people were...
