Behind-the-Wheel Training with Varsity Driving Academy

Posted by on Jan 7, 2015 in Autos, Education, Family, Parenting | 0 comments

Sponsored How time flies…my first-born is 16 now and a junior in high school! Seems just like yesterday when he was first placed in my arms, after the emergency C-section we experienced… Anyway, 16 = DRIVING!!! Another one of those bittersweet (or anxiety-causing) moments of parenthood… He took the online Driver’s Ed course through his school district. It took him about a couple of weeks to finish and pass the test. Couple of months after that, we went to DMV and he passed his written exam, which got him a permit. But before you can actually drive (even with Mom/Dad), you need to complete a 2-hour session of Behind-the-Wheel Training with a licensed instructor. The mandatory 6 hours of Behind-the-Wheel Training is divided into 3 separate dates. We have been very fortunate to take these classes with Varsity Driving...

UPLIFT Yoga Bash – Starry Night

Posted by on Dec 31, 2014 in Family, Fitness, Health | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of UPLIFT Yoga has been a part of me for quite some time now. I’m sure most of our readers here know the benefits of yoga first-hand also. My current quest is to introduce yoga to my boys because I know all the great things that will come of it! So I was super excited when I learned about this wonderful charity event involving yoga, music, dance, all outdoors and under the stars at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. UPLIFT Yoga Bash is a very popular yoga fundraiser that benefits UPLIFT Teen Yoga, a research-based program that brings yoga and mindfulness to teens, brought about by Keep Friendship Alive and its founder Erica Austin. The sold-out event took place on 9/19 (Friday), from 6pm to 11pm. About 800 yogis took part in this magical...

Ultimate Kids Birthday Party at We Play Loud

Posted by on Jul 25, 2014 in Birthday Parties, Events, Family, Featured, Parenting | 0 comments

Our youngest baby is turning 5 – not really sure how that can be possible; it feels like he was just a baby the other day! In any case, it was time for another birthday party. And we had a blast this year at the newly opened We Play Loud in Lake Forest. The place is really perfect for the little guys! All of our guests were VERY happy with We Play Loud. From the kids’ perspectives, the play structures and rides are all different and unique from other play centers. Most, if not all, of them did not want to leave when the party was over. From the parents’ perspectives, they love the ceiling to floor windows and the natural lighting the place has. Because they’re brand-new and the staff is constantly cleaning the facility, everything is...

We attended as a guest of Festival of Arts WOW! This event was AHH-mazing!!! I am already looking forward to next year’s Family Art Day – definitely a must-go event with your kids! Festival of Arts is one of the art festivals held during the summer in Laguna Beach. Did you know that kids 12 and under receive free admission all summer long? They have workshops and art education for kids, teens, and adults, in addition to various events and entertainment throughout the summer. Their onsite restaurant and food stand serve up great food too! On Family Art Day, upon entrance, the kids received free booklets filled with coupons of fun activities that they can do that day. This year, they had balloon artists, face painting booths, raku ceramic painting, music, marionette show, art printing, hat-making, Art Quest (treasure...

We Play Loud in Lake Forest

Posted by on Jul 7, 2014 in Activities, Featured, Museums | 1 comment

Sponsored Just in time for the super-hot summer days, a brand-new indoor play facility just opened up in Lake Forest! It’s aptly named “We Play Loud” and is located just off the 5 Fwy at the El Toro exit (in the same mall as Slater’s 50/50). The 12,000 square foot facility has lots of things to keep your kids (infant-9yo; 51” and under) entertained. The main play structure has a 4-person slide, foam ball area, obstacles, bridges, climbing, and so much more. In addition to that, there’s a separate bounce house, a balloon loft, and a ball pit. There are 4 “moving” rides – a big airplane and a boat in the front, and a spinning octopus and a palm-tree further inside. Everything is covered or made from soft materials, so it’s very safe. There’s also a big baby/toddler area,...

Room & Board Summer Outdoor Collection

Posted by on Jun 11, 2014 in Family, Shopping | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of Room & Board Room & Board is famous for their modern design and American craftsmanship, and their outdoor collections are as beautiful and functional as their indoor pieces. The materials they use for their outdoor pieces are all weather-resistant, such as marine-grade hardwood frames, rustproof fasteners, quick-drying foam, and fade-resisting, water-repelling Sunbrella fabrics. The overall look and feel is light and cheerful, using bright, happy colors throughout. The sectionals and sofas are so inviting and comfortable. You can easily spend the whole summer outdoors with furniture pieces like these! In addition, Room & Board values sustainability. As a whole, the company is very aware and committed to being a “good corporate citizen”. That shows up in the interesting use of materials in their collection. The Loll Collection uses 100% recycled plastic, which is...

Repurpose4Good – Not Just On Earth Day, But Everyday

Posted by on Apr 29, 2014 in Earth Day, Family, Fashion, Giving Back | 0 comments

Have you visited your local Goodwill lately? I recently attended an event at the Lake Forest Goodwill during Earth Day, and was very pleasantly surprised by their transformations! Did you know they actually have 2 stores at the location (23740 El Toro Road)? On the left-hand side is the “main” Goodwill store, filled with racks of gently used clothing and shoes for men, women, and children, tons of glassware and knick-knacks, some furniture, and other home items. On the right-hand side is the “Keepers”, which has been recently redone as the 2nd “OC Goodwill Boutique”. This side is filled with brand name and designer items, mostly clothing for women, some shoes and bags, and men’s items as well. I also learned a lot of interesting facts about Goodwill that are worth sharing with you all! Did you know...

Compass Bible Church 2014 Eggstravaganza

Posted by on Apr 19, 2014 in Easter, Events, Featured, Holiday | 0 comments

Here in Orange County, we are truly blessed to have many family events that are free of charge! Hosted by Compass Bible Church of Aliso Viejo, their Eggstravaganza event was held on 4/18 (Friday) from 9:30am-11:30am, at the Laguna Hills Community Center. My kids and I had attended this event several years ago, so this year was our 2nd time at this fun Easter event. As in the past, in addition to the Community Center parking lot, the Laguna Hills High School parking lot was available so there was plenty of free parking. The event included several bounce houses, craft tables, face painting, balloon artists, raffles, donuts, fruits, popcorn, churros, cotton candy, coffee, water bottles, juice packs, and of course Egg Hunt! All free of charge ☺ The great thing about this year’s egg hunt was that it...

If you’re a typical mom (like me), chances are you like…or more like, can’t live without…Pinterest and Etsy! And for an IRL (In Real Life) Etsy experience, head on down to Dana Point this weekend to the Mermade Market Craft Fair! From 4/17 (Thu) through 4/19 (Sat), the cute little beach house type venue (Dana Point Community House, 24642 San Juan Ave.) will be filled with tons of wonderfully handmade items. Lots of the vendors are on Etsy and most, if not all, are from Orange County. There’s a parking lot onsite, as well as street parking (all free), and restrooms inside the building. On 4/17 (Thu) and 4/18 (Fri) from 1pm-4pm, for $2/tot, they will have childcare services on the grassy area right outside the building so moms can shop without having to constantly say “Look with...
