Award Winning Artist ‘Common’ to Perform at Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival
Food lovers from all over the Southland will come together this weekend for the biggest food and wine event of the year, the fourth annual Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival. Guests attending the event are in for a treat with an amazing night of music from the Grammy-winning artist, Common on Saturday, August 23rd at 7pm.
Opening for Common will be a performance from the African children’s ensemble amaWolseley Marimbas. The electrifying performance will take place on the festival’s main stage on Grand Avenue between 1st and 2nd Streets (in front of the Disney Concert Hall).
The amaWolseley Marimbas were discovered in the rural townships surrounding Wolseley in South Africa’s Witzenberg Valley. None of the children had ever heard or seen a marimba prior to the auditions, but were selected based on rhythm and then taught to play. The eight current members (14-15 years old) now regularly perform at live events in South Africa and throughout the United States.
Attending the event will help to end hunger in Los Angeles and America. There will be a live auction benefiting the Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign.
Tickets for the event are available online or at the door.
