Best Beach Parks in the OC
Orange County is home to some of the most beautiful beaches, hiking trails, and parks in Southern California. During the summer, families are often spotted spending time with their children at one of the best beach parks in the OC. I teamed up with Expedia.com for its #SoCalSummer series to share some of the best beach parks in the OC. Bring along your beach gear and get ready to have an unforgettable summer day at one of these exclusive OC beach parks.
This park is often referred to by locals at Lighthouse Park because of the giant lighthouse slide in the center of the park. It is located right in the heart of Newport Beach on the Peninsula and is also the newest beach park built in Orange County. The park features plenty of grass for kids to run around, interactive play structures, and calm bay waters for water play. Parking is the only downside to visiting this park, so we recommend arriving early, and plan to spend the day playing. Lunch is available next door at the lighthouse cafe.
Main Beach Park
After spending a day relaxing on the white sandy beach, Main Beach in Laguna Beach, bring the kids for some fun at the Main Beach Park. The park is located right on the sand and offers a lot of fun for children of all ages. There is a giant play structure that is a replica of the famous Laguna Beach lifeguard tower and swings. Don’t forget to get an ice cream cone at the ice cream shop of the corner before heading home from this fun OC park.
Aliso Creek Beach Park
One of the most popular beach parks in Orange County is the Aliso Creek Beach Park. It is located right on the sand at Aliso Creek Beach which makes this beach a popular birthday party destination. The beach is one of the few beaches in Orange County that still has fire pits, and we recommend arriving at dawn to reserve one. The play structures are pirate ship themed and perfect for kids to become immersed in imaginary play. The park has a large metered parking lot, clean bathrooms, and a snack shop that’s open during the summer.
After spending the afternoon riding bikes around the peninsula or having fun in the fun zone, bring the kids to Peninsula Park for some fun on the sand. The park is located right next to the Newport Pier that families can walk down for a milkshake at Ruby’s Diner. The park has bathrooms, a play structure, swings, and the best part – a giant spider web climber.
When making your family summer plans this summer, make plans to bring your kids to one of the fun OC beach parks. Once you’re done exploring all the beach parks in OC venture out to other parts of the area and try some of these SoCal outdoor experiences.
