Bubblegum Alley in San Luis Obispo
While on our road trip to Monterey, one of our favorite stops was to see the bubblegum alley in San Luis Obispo. My daughter and I have always wanted to see the bubblegum alley in Seattle, and we didn’t even realize there was one in San Luis Obispo until a friend mentioned it to us.
We put the address into the navigation in our Buick Encore and made our way to have some sticky “and stinky” fun. The biggest challenge of getting to the bubblegum alley was finding parking. The alley is located right in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo, and parking is not easy to find. Once we found a parking spot, it was only a one-hour parking, so we had to make our visit to the area brief.
The alley was located in-between two businesses and was filled with locals and visitors capturing pictures in front of the colorful wall. The hardest thing about staying long was the odor – I must admit that it smelled terrible when walking down the alley. If you have nose plugs, bring a set along with you.
We took some fun pictures in the alley and read some of the messages that we stuck up on the wall with gum. It was a great photo opportunity, totally Instagram-worthy, and I recommend families taking a few minutes to see it while passing through or visiting San Luis Obispo.
After visiting bubblegum alley, we walked a couple of blocks away to have a quick bite at the popular Tonita’s Mexican Food. Savored authentic tacos and had a refreshing coke before getting back on the road to continue our road trip.
I recommend bringing some chewing gum to leave your ‘mark’ on the wall. Bubblegum Alley is located at 733.5 Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
