Camel Point Beach in Laguna Beach is Best of Beaches in California

Camel Point Beach in Laguna Beach is Best of Beaches in California

Where is Camel Point Beach in Laguna Beach? While driving along PCH yesterday with my kids, they shouted out that they spotted a “hidden” beach access sign along PCH. I immediately pulled over, to check out this beach that we had yet to discover in Laguna Beach..just to find that it was Camel Point beach. We had read so many inaccurate stories about its location, and that was why we were always so unsuccessful in locating it over the Summer. It was truly one of the best beaches in California for us yet to discover.

Finding this beach is not easy, and they did that on purpose. For a long time, this beach had no local access signs. Although, it was always a public beach, the locals wanted the public to think it was private. I am not going to lie – parking is not easy. You will need to park along the busy Pacific Coast Highway, and need to be very careful when having the kids exit the vehicle.

Trail to Camel Point Beach

Once you make your way down the cobblestone path, you will spot the majestic Camel Rock (hence the name: Camel Point Beach). Yes, your kids can climb on this historic Camel shaped rock, but we warn you to be careful. While talking to a local resident, he said, “We have seen many people fall from the rock with major injuries.”

To the right of the rock is where your family will feel the magic of this beach. Your children can wade in the turquoise tide pools while admiring the beauty of the Laguna Beach coastline. I spent hours sitting on the side of the rock watching my children explore the rocks, tunnels and caves at this beautiful beach.

I recommend brining a book, picnic lunch, towels and snacks. Be prepared for your kids to never want to leave this amazing beach.

Are you ready? Where is it located? It is located right in between Aliso Creek Beach and Tablerock Beach. I recommend typing in Camel Point Drive into your GPS to help you locate the beach, but just know that access is south of Aliso Creek Beach. Be prepared to search for parking along PCH. I recommend visiting this beach on a weekday when the kids are out of school, or plan to arrive early for a close parking space. (see the photos as help to locate the beach access)
