Posted by on Apr 25, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film, Theme Parks | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of Disney The Walkman opened, the awesome mixtape was inserted, and the Disney Imagineering team hit play to listen to nearly 100 high-energy songs before finally selecting the final six songs that will be featured in the new Disney California Adventure attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Just like in the movie, music plays a major role in the storytelling of the attraction that will immerse visitors into a futuristic world. This afternoon, I put on an old pair of work boots and drove to Anaheim to get an exclusive first look at the all-new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! When I arrived at Disney California Adventure Park, I was guided to the wall that surrounds the new upcoming attraction, handed a hard hat, and welcomed to come behind-the-scenes. Getting...

Inside look into the True Life Adventure ‘Born in China’ with Roy Conli

Posted by on Apr 21, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney It was a rainy day in Los Angeles, and while most people in Southern California will avoid driving anywhere in the rain, I didn’t let that stop me from driving to Los Angeles to meet the producer of Born in China, Roy Conli. I have been a long-time fan of his work on Tangled and Big Hero Six. I entered a room at the Montage Hotel with a group of bloggers and took a seat to await the arrival of Roy Conli. When he walked into the room, I couldn’t help but feel like he has some facial similarities to some of the characters in Big Hero 6, but couldn’t quite put my finger on what character he looked the most alike. Once he took a seat, we all introduced...

Mesmerizing Disneynature’s Born in China

Posted by on Apr 19, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended a screening as a guest of Disney One of my favorite ways to celebrate Earth Day with my children is to take them to see the recent Disneynature film. While watching Disneynature films, my children become immersed into a magical world that they would never get to see if it weren’t for the incredible cinematographers who create the timeless films. This year, I was given the honor of getting to attend an early screening of the Disneynature film, Born in China, and it is one of the best films yet. The moment that my children took their seat inside of the theater, they were mesmerized by the film. Born in China took us to different regions of China where we followed along with the real life adventures of three different animals; snow leopards, pandas, and golden monkeys....

Sensory Friendly Performance of The Painted Garden

Posted by on Apr 13, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

Segerstrom Center for the Arts has scheduled a Sensory Friendly performance of The Painted Garden performed by Compagnia TPO on Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m. in Samueli Theater. During this immersive, interactive dance and multimedia show, children are invited to accompany dancers on stage where sensors respond to movement and sound. Spontaneous and filled with surprising twists, the show is a memorable adventure for children where they not only observe the story of the wonderful garden, but also experience it with their bodies. Sensory Friendly performances are geared towards patrons with sensory sensitivity and their families. They often feature ambient lighting throughout the performance, and a reduction of or warning about loud sounds. Additionally, traditional theater etiquette rules are more relaxed. Patrons can move around and enter and exit the theater as needed as well as use...

An Afternoon with Dan TDM

Posted by on Apr 7, 2017 in Entertainment, Film, Television Shows | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of YouTube My son has never played Minecraft, but he sure loves watching one of his favorite YouTube stars Dan TDM play the game. Over the past couple of years, he has been watching his YouTube channel, and I didn’t realize how big of a fan he was until we got an invite to go to YouTube Space in LA to meet Dan TDM. When I mentioned the invitation to my son, he nearly passed out with excitement. He circled the date on my calendar and started counting down the days until he was going to meet his favorite YouTube star. I waited until we were on our way to LA to surprise my son with the news that he was going to get a one on one meet and greet with Dan TDM...

On-the-Scene with Spider-Man: Homecoming Star Tom Holland

Posted by on Apr 6, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 2 comments

I attended the interview as a guest of Sony/Marvel Last year, I got the invitation of a lifetime. I opened my email to find out that I was invited to fly to Atlanta to go to the set where they were filming Spider-Man: Homecoming. The only thing was that I couldn’t tell anyone where I was going. I had to go dark on social media and disappear for a couple of days to see them film a scene from the movie and interview some of the cast. One of my favorite interviews while on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming was with Tom Holland (Spider-Man) and Jacob Batalon (Ned, Spider-Man’s best friend). I had just finished watching them film a scene from the film, and I sat down with Tom Holland and Jacob Batalon to talk about the film. We...

The Boss Baby: Something for Everyone

Posted by on Mar 31, 2017 in Film | 0 comments

Earlier this month, my sister, Shan and I, along with a group of L.A. mom’s, dad’s and kids, attended a screening of DreamWorks’ “The Boss Baby”, an adorable, touching, and hilarious animated movie adapted from Marla Frazee’s acclaimed children’s book of the same name. The screening was followed by a Q & A with Lisa Kudrow, Director Tom McGrath, and Producer Ramsey Ann Naito, moderated by Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein, AKA TheMOMS. I am a long time fan of the smart, funny, beautiful Lisa Kudrow, so I was psyched to hear a little about what went on behind the scenes. And as a bonus, we got a snapshot into Kudrow’s mind. For a quick peek, take a look at this video where she answers rapid-fire questions from The MOMS in 60 seconds. So what about the movie?...

Why Teens Should See The Zookeepers Wife

Posted by on Mar 31, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended as a guest I have been learning about the Holocaust in school and when I saw the trailer for The Zookeepers Wife; I immediately knew that I wanted to see the movie to get a deeper understanding of what the people truly went through. When my mom told me that she had tickets to the premiere, I immediately knew that I wanted to go with her to see the film. When we took our seats in the theater, I was so excited for the film to start. I had watched the trailer over and over again until I was able to watch the full movie. I love movies that teach me about the history and the world before I knew it. True story films are always the best movies to watch. When the movie started playing, I...

Peter Pan Soars to New Heights in Finding Neverland

Posted by on Mar 27, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

Sponsored Peter Pan is one of my most favorite childhood stories, so naturally, when I heard that Finding Neverland was going to be coming to the Segerstrom Center for the Arts I couldn’t wait to bring one of my children to see it. I am a major theater geek, and I love that I am raising my youngest son and daughter also to share my love for the arts. The night of the premiere of Finding Neverland, my two kids were both begging me to take them to see the show, and it was hard to choose just one to bring with me. I flipped a coin, and my youngest son Tyler was the lucky one who got to come with me to see the magical story of how Peter Pan came to life. The performance was incredible from...

The Prince Warriors and the Unseen Invasion II Teen Book Review

Posted by on Mar 26, 2017 in Books, Entertainment | 0 comments

Sponsored by B&H Kids I am a total book worm. I always have a book with me and never leave the house without one. I am always looking for new, exciting books to read. When we received The Prince Warriors and the Unseen Invasion II, I was so excited to open it up and start reading. This book took me about two weeks to read, and I didn’t go anywhere without it. The first thing I read on the cover was that there was a poster inside. I love it when books do this! I read the book until I got to the poster then immediately stuck the poster up on my wall, and kept reading. From the first page, I was immersed into a magical world that the author created. Every chapter introduced a new character, and I...

World Premiere of Big Little Lies

We attended as a guest of TCL Little did I know when driving up to Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago for the world premiere of HBO’s Big Little Lies, that the show would become my all-time favorite series. The night of the premiere, I got on my prettiest dress and picked up my friend Darice to go to the premiere. Outside of the TCL Chinese Theatres was a long blue carpet where celebrities were getting ready to walk down before entering the theater. We found a spot on the carpet and eagerly awaited our favorite celebrities to arrive. While on the “blue” carpet, we got a chance to meet Nicole Kidman (squeal), Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, and more. Once the last celebrity had walked the carpet, everyone entered the TCL Chinese Theatre to watch the debut of...

Whipped Cream Ballet at the Segerstrom Center

Posted by on Mar 17, 2017 in Entertainment, Events, Theatre | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue I love ballet, and I love going to see it with my Dad. When I was little, I used to take ballet classes, and it was so fun. As the days went on I got busier and busier, and it was hard for me to keep up, so I decided to stop. Since I love ballet so much, I always get excited when the Segerstrom Center for the Arts hosts the American Ballet Theatre. I saw the Nutcracker at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and it was probably one of the best ballets I have ever seen until now. This time I went to see the ballet Whipped Cream and it was fantastic! This ballet was unlike anything I have ever seen before. From the creative costumes to the amazing...

We attended the screening as a guest of the studio The all-new live action Beauty and the Beast is one of the best movies of the year. Our family fell in love with the film. It felt like we were being told the story for the first time, the music was captivating, the imagery was breathtaking, and the story was magical. We recommend children and adults of all ages go to see Beauty and the Beast. It is in theaters starting today. This is our family review of the film Beauty and the Beast. Mom I didn’t think that Beauty and the Beast could have possibly gotten any better than the original, but I was wrong. My heart melted as I watched Belle and the Beast slowly fall in love with each other. The music immersed me into a...

We attended as a guest of Disney I’ll never forget the time that I saw Beauty and the Beast for the first time in theaters. It was in the winter of 1991, I was fifteen years old, and it was the first time that my parents let me go to a theater alone with my girlfriends. All I remember was being captivated by the music, falling in love with the characters, and realizing that true love really does exist. Flash forward over 25 years, and I find myself falling in love with the story all over again when watching the live action version in a Los Angeles theater. Only this time, I wasn’t the teenager, my two children sitting next to me were. I got to watch my fifteen-year-old son fall in love with the story just as much...

He always wants to watch his shows, and some of them can be really boring, but others can be really fun to watch. One of the shows that we have grown up watching together is Lego Ninjago. We started watching Lego Ninjago when the series first came out. At that time we were both into lego sets. He liked Ninjago Lego sets, and I liked Lego friends Lego sets. We have probably watched every episode up until season six. We took a break as we both got busy with school and sports. When we received the Lego Ninjago: Masters Spinjitzu season six, I was excited to watch it with him. We used to look at it when we woke up in...

Guide to Have the Perfect Moana Movie Night

Posted by on Mar 6, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored Disney’s Moana is now available on digital download with Disney Movies Anywhere and will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD in stores starting tomorrow. One of our favorite family traditions is to have a movie night with friends when a new Disney movie is released to digital download or DVD/Blu-ray. During the summer, we have had many outdoor movie nights, and while we would have loved to have a Moana movie night as a “dive-in” movie at my in-laws pool, the rainy weather kept us indoors to celebrate the release of this magical Disney film. Although we couldn’t have the movie outdoors as we had wanted, we didn’t let that stop us from having an epic and unforgettable movie night with our friends and family. Once all the children were ready to watch the movie, we dimmed the...

Disney’s Moana Pua Cookies

Posted by on Mar 6, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Family, Film, Recipes | 0 comments

Sponsored Disney’s Moana is one of my favorite animation movies of last year. I loved the story, the music, and the message behind the film. It wasn’t just me that loved the film, but also my children. When I found out that we could watch the film before it was released on DVD with Disney Movies Anywhere, I couldn’t wait to download it and start watching it with my children. Ever since downloading it, we have watched it over and over again. We decided to invite some friends over for a fun Moana movie night, and since Pua is my younger son’s favorite character, I made adorable “Pua Cookies.” The cookies were a hit with the children attending our party, and the kids devoured every last crumb of the cookies. I brought them out to the children during one...
