The 80’s are Back with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Posted by on Dec 13, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

We attended the screening as a guest of Disney Just like many of you, I grew up watching Star Wars. I would dress up like Princess Leia and immerse myself into the magical world of Star Wars while doing imaginative play with my friends. Star Wars was a big part of my childhood, and when I had children, I knew that I wanted it to be a part of their childhood too. Once my kids were old enough to start walking, I purchased them their first box set of the Star Wars movies. As they have grown-up, we have spent many nights watching Star Wars together, and I’ll even dress-up for some imaginary play time with them from time to time. Recently, new Star Wars films have begun coming out, and now our children are starting to have a...

World Premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Posted by on Dec 12, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

I attended the event as a guest of Disney Last week something incredible happened… My daughter and I had just arrived in Yosemite for a mother/daughter getaway. Once we arrived at the hotel, I had to go into a short meeting, and my daughter returned to the room to relax after our long drive. When I returned to the room to meet my daughter, I opened the door, and she started talking with so much excitement that I could barely make out the words that she was saying. Then I heard her say, “Mom, you missed a call while you were gone, and you got invited to the world premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story!” And then we both started screaming!! Words cannot describe how excited and honored I felt to have been invited to this once...

Entice Rudolph with Reindeer Chow

Posted by on Dec 5, 2016 in Christmas, Entertainment, Family, Film, Holiday, Recipes | 0 comments

Sponsored One of my favorite things to do during the holiday season is to watch the classic version of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” with my children. The timeless story brings out the spirit of the season in a way that is indescribable, and watching a classic holiday movie is one of the best ways to get your family into the holiday spirit. Along with “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” we also enjoy watching “Frosty the Snowman,” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” during the holiday season. The one thing that has been challenging for me in the past was finding the movies to download and watch with our children every year. When I learned that an Anniversary Collection of the three timeless films was being released this year, I jumped at the opportunity to add it to our home...

Moana Teen Movie Review

Posted by on Nov 24, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I saw the movie as a guest of Disney Ever since I was young, I have loved Disney Princesses! My whole world revolved around them, and now that I am an older I still love them! When Frozen came out, I was so happy. I had to get all of the Frozen toys and gizmos. I even had three Elsa costumes! When I heard about Moana, I could not wait, and I was hoping it would be amazing just like Frozen. I heard about Moana about three months before it was going to come out. I was so bummed that it wouldn’t be coming out for a while, but then the very next day, Disney sent me the Moana book! I immediately started reading it, and I fell in love. It took me about a two weeks to read...

5 Fun Facts about Moana

Posted by on Nov 23, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

We saw the film as a guest of Disney Moana is one of the most magical things to ever be created by the Walt Disney Animation Studios. There was so much research that went into the film and so many fun facts about the making of the movie that we wanted to share our five favorite facts about the film Moana. While it your might think that Moana is wearing the same outfit in the movie – look closer because she wears seven different outfits. One of her most elaborate outfits was only shown for six seconds in the film during a dance sequence. My favorite character in the film, Heihei was originally going to be a smart and sassy chicken, but the filmmakers didn’t feel like it was working with the film, and almost cut his character from...

Magical Moana Premiere

Posted by on Nov 22, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

We attended the premiere as a guest of Disney It was a magical night in Hollywood as my daughter and I put on our prettiest dresses and walked the red carpet at the world premiere of the movie, Moana. As we arrived at the premiere, we saw that the streets were lined with fans eagerly awaiting a chance to see one of the favorite actors in the film. The minute that a celebrity arrived the crowd would squeal with delight and call out their name in hopes that they would come towards the crowd for a selfie or autograph. The minute that we stepped foot on the “blue carpet” I looked over at my beautiful daughter who was beaming with happiness. There was a Polynesian band who was playing festive music to greet all of the guests attending the...

Feel the Aloha Spirit with Moana

Posted by on Nov 21, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney It had been less than a week since I had major surgery, but that wasn’t stopping me from going to see the amazing film “Moana” and meeting the cast and creators of the film. My kids and I jumped into the back of my friend’s car on a Saturday night, and she whisked us up to Los Angeles to see the movie “Moana.” The film was everything that I hoped it would be and more. The music, the imagery, the story, made the film one of the best Disney movies ever created. We drove home that night singing all the catchy tunes from the songs in the film, and I had a list of questions that I was eager to ask the cast the next morning. We were going to...

Master of the Mystic Arts: Doctor Strange

Posted by on Nov 4, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We saw a screening as a guest of Disney My 11-year-old is a huge Marvel fan. He’s got the comics; he’s got the encyclopedia (yes there is a Marvel Encyclopedia that has in-depth information about all things Marvel), and he seems to know about all things that are happening in the Marvel Universe including when movies are slated to come out. I grew up on X-Men but didn’t really follow the other superheroes until my son.  I love Marvel movies because they bring pop culture and humor into dark situations leading the viewer to feel all sorts of emotions from fear to happiness anger to dismay. I never leave a Marvel moving feel depressed, well that not true, I’m depressed the movie is over and that I have to wait a year or so for the next one.  So, whenever...

Creating Moana with the Oceanic Story Trust

Posted by on Nov 2, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended a press event as a guest of Disney Before creating a film, Disney always starts with research. When researching the film Moana, the filmmakers pushed the cinematic boundaries by doing something that has never been done before by forming the Oceanic Story Trust. This past July, we talked with Jessica Julius (Sr. Creative Executive) about the creation of the Oceanic Story Trust and how it played a role in creating the magical story of Moana. Julius shared with us that her job is to support the filmmakers to develop their world, story, and characters for their film projects. She continued to share with us that research was a key part in making this film, and something that they started right away with Moana. “We started with a research trip because there is nothing quite like being in...

Bringing the MARVELous Doctor Strange to life

Posted by on Nov 1, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

We attended an interview as a guest of Disney Doctor Strange, which is the story of Doctor Stephen Strange, the Master of the Mystic Arts, who made his first appearance in Marvel comics in 1963.  Bringing the story of Doctor Strange from print to film was MARVELous with so many complex and in-depth levels. All the pieces fell into place when Kevin Feige and Scott Derrickson decided to push the cinematic boundaries and create this breathtaking film.  With an insanely talented all-star cast consisting of talents such as Mads Mikkelsen, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, and Benedict Wong, this film was meant to be not only a blockbuster action film but also one with thought provoking concepts holding true to its 60’s roots. As psychedelic and eye opening as this movie is, it doesn’t make you feel that...

World Premiere of Keeping up with The Joneses

Posted by on Oct 20, 2016 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the studio After having an epic ‘Mom’s Day Out‘ in Los Angeles doing fun activities featured in the film “Keeping up with The Joneses,” I couldn’t wait to see the movie. I spent the day skydiving, throwing darts, and experiencing an interactive cooking class – just like the actors did in the movie. After the fun day around LA, I was able to bring my husband and two teenagers back to LA to the world premiere of the hilarious film. We arrived at the Fox Studio Lot where we would start the night by walking the red carpet in front of the flashing lights. Our two teenagers gave their best poses for the cameras and even got a couple of selfies with their favorite celebrities. Then it was time to enter the theater...

Posted by on Oct 19, 2016 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended the event as a guest of 20th Century Fox Over the years of living in suburbia, I have watched many neighbors try and “keep up with the Joneses.” When I first saw the trailer for the upcoming movie “Keeping up with the Joneses,” I couldn’t wait to see it with my husband. Along with the honor of receiving an invitation to the premiere of the film, I got invited to have an epic Mom’s Day Out in LA to undergo a couple of the adventures that the actors experience in the film. My day started out at Universal City Walk where I would get on a thick blue jumpsuit and skydive. Well, not skydive out of a plane, but in a simulator. If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time, then you know how...

How to Host an Alice Through The Looking Glass Tea Party

Posted by on Oct 18, 2016 in Birthday Parties, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We received a copy of the film The magical movie “Alice Through The Looking Glass” is coming out on Blu-ray and DVD starting today, October 18th. The film is beautifully made, and one that families will want to add to their home movie collection to enjoy for years to come. One of our favorite things to do when a great movie is released on Blu-ray or DVD is to host a movie night. Since the weather is getting cooler, an outdoor movie night doesn’t seem ideal; a tea party sounds just right. Disney thinks of everything when making a movie, including giving tips on how parents can expand on the movie theater experience with their children at home. For the release of Alice Through The Looking Glass, Disney created a step-by-step kit for parents on how to host an...

‘Boo it Forward’ with Ghostbusters

Posted by on Oct 14, 2016 in Entertainment, Film, Halloween, Uncategorized | 0 comments

Product sample received One of our favorite things to do at Halloween is to “Boo” our friends. Every year, the kids go shopping for fun trinkets and treats to make Halloween-themed care packages for their friends. Then comes the fun part when we tip toe around in the dark in hopes of not being caught secretly delivering the care packages to all our friend’s houses. This year, we made our “Boo” care packages a little different. Since the new Ghostbusters movie just came out on DVD and Blu-ray on October 11th, we created ghostly themed care packages for all our friends (minus the green slime). We filled the packages with mini rubber ghosts, candy, and a copy of “Ghostbusters: Answer The Call.” We also included a reminder to “Boo it Forward” by making a care package and delivering it...
