Easter Eggs & Fun Facts about Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!

Posted by on May 25, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film, Theme Parks | 0 comments

We attended a preview as a guest of Disney The all-new attraction at Disney California Adventure Park, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, is full of Easter eggs. It will take guests visiting the ride hundreds of times to see all the different artifacts carefully placed by The Collector (aka Taneleer Tivan) in his fortress, and the artifacts in the lobby may be changing from time to time. Once guests enter the lobby, there will be pieces of The Collector’s prize possessions everywhere, with the most detailed items being in his office. I got a sneak peek of the ride, and I am excited to share some fun facts about the new attraction, and some Easter Eggs you’ll want to look for when experiencing Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! for the first time! When guests enter...

Interview with the Cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Posted by on May 24, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

I attended the interviews as a guest of Disney. The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth installment in the Pirates of The Caribbean Story will be released in theaters this Friday, May 26th.  The origins of the movie series goes back to the Disney ride of the same name and frankly my favorite ride of the park. One of the most enduring characters that have come to the movie screens in the past 14 years has been the portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow by Johnny Depp.  Not to mention the supporting characters played by some the Hollywood elite Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightly, Geoffrey Rush and joining the cast this time around Javier Bardem. I had an incredible opportunity to spend time with some of the cast this past weekend and interviewed them about the...

Best Teen Summer Read – The Trials of Apollo: The Dark Prophecy

Posted by on May 15, 2017 in Books, Education, Entertainment, Family, Giveaways | 5 comments

Sponsored The one thing that I love to do is read. With school ending within just a few short weeks, I have been busy planning my must-have summer reading calendar. One book that I couldn’t wait to read this summer is The Trials of Apollo: The Dark Prophecy. Imagine my surprise when I received a box on Friday that had a copy of the book I have been dying to read – I dropped everything and read the book within a couple of hours. Who doesn’t drop everything to get their hands on the newest Rick Riordan book? The man is a genius of an author who immerses his readers into another realm. The Trials of Apollo is one of my favorite book series by far! The book is complete with puns, backstabbing, poetry and so much more! The...

Inside Look into Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Live at The Segerstrom Center

Posted by on May 12, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue My two teen daughters have many diverse hobbies and interests, but two main obsessions – music and Harry Potter. My 16-year-old has read the series eight times through, enjoyed the films many times over, and is a member of her high school’s Harry Potter Club called The Muggles of YL. She also plays the flute and piano in the high school marching, concert, and jazz bands. My 14-year-old is similarly fanatical about the “Wizarding World” and is a violinist in her middle school orchestra. So you can imagine their disbelief followed by extreme excitement to learn they’d be treated to a behind-the-scenes rehearsal and performance of a Harry Potter film with live orchestration. The acclaimed Pacific Symphony, led by renowned conductor Jeffrey Schindler performing John Williams’ award-winning and memorable music from...

Posted by on May 11, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue On Saturday my daughter and I had an afternoon theater date at the Laguna Beach Playhouse.  The show was Wizard of Oz and was brought to life by a marvelous group of actors. The play is based on the famous movie and follows Dorothy’s travels through the Land of Oz. If you have never seen a play at the Laguna Beach Playhouse, you must attend a show at least once.  The location is cozy and every seat has a great view of the stage.  Before the show the courtyard has some activities, with the lobby inside serving drinks and snacks.  The shows tend to offer meet and greet with the cast after the show. For our show the lobby offered raffle prize of a beach bike (super cool yellow beach cruiser and...

We attended the screening/interview as a guest of the studio This Mother’s Day, Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer join comedic forces in “Snatched.” We couldn’t be more excited for Hawn’s return to the big screen since 2002 in “The Banger Sisters.” The legendary actress and Schumer sat down to chat about the film, which centers around a mother and daughter who decide to go on a trip which doesn’t go as planned when they end up being held, hostage. The night before I met with the talented actresses, my best friend and I were able to watch the film for a girls night out and had a fantastic time laughing at Hawn and Schumer’s wild misadventures. They were dynamite! By the end of the movie we were excited to see the film with our moms because while the film...

We attended a screening as a guest of Disney “I am Groot!” The time has finally come for families to be able to experience a whole new journey with everyone’s favorite Marvel characters in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The film takes families on an epic adventure with suspense, action, and awesome music. Along with the fun, there is also some great messaging that children will take away after seeing the film. The main reason to bring your kids to watch the film is that they will leave with an overwhelming sense of the power of family. Throughout the entire movie, the Guardians are put to the test, go through some hard times, but they are always there for each other. They never give up on each other, they stick together, and they care for one another –...

We visited as a guest of the venue How lovely is it that a musical can stop time and capture two of the most basic feelings of life; love and happiness! If you are like us and enjoy the theater, then we have a fantastic recommendation for you! We were invited to attend the recent opening night of “An American in Paris,”at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The movie we all know so well from the 1950’s inspired the creation of the musical for the stage, and it is truly breathtaking and beautiful. The story is set on a young American soldier and a sweet, beautiful French girl in the city of Paris, 1945 at the end of the Second World War.  I attended as guest of Disney My absolute favorite Marvel film of all time was Guardians of the Galaxy. I loved the music, the story, and the characters. When I learned that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was coming out this summer, I was beyond thrilled. One day, I opened my email to find out that I was invited by Disney to an early screening of the film and to interview the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I was overwhelmed with excitement about seeing the film, and getting to be in the same room with some of the most talented people in Hollywood. We played a game of Ro-Sham-Bo to see who in my family was going to be my guest to attend the screening of the film, and my youngest son Tyler was the...

Just like in the movie, music plays a major role in the storytelling of the attraction that will immerse visitors into a futuristic world. Inside look into the True Life Adventure ‘Born in China’ with Roy Conli

Posted by on Apr 21, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney It was a rainy day in Los Angeles, and while most people in Southern California will avoid driving anywhere in the rain, I didn’t let that stop me from driving to Los Angeles to meet the producer of Born in China, Roy Conli. I have been a long-time fan of his work on Tangled and Big Hero Six. I entered a room at the Montage Hotel with a group of bloggers and took a seat to await the arrival of Roy Conli. When he walked into the room, I couldn’t help but feel like he has some facial similarities to some of the characters in Big Hero 6, but couldn’t quite put my finger on what character he looked the most alike. Once he took a seat, we all introduced...

Mesmerizing Disneynature’s Born in China

Posted by on Apr 19, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended a screening as a guest of Disney One of my favorite ways to celebrate Earth Day with my children is to take them to see the recent Disneynature film. While watching Disneynature films, my children become immersed into a magical world that they would never get to see if it weren’t for the incredible cinematographers who create the timeless films. This year, I was given the honor of getting to attend an early screening of the Disneynature film, Born in China, and it is one of the best films yet. The moment that my children took their seat inside of the theater, they were mesmerized by the film. Born in China took us to different regions of China where we followed along with the real life adventures of three different animals; snow leopards, pandas, and golden monkeys....

Sensory Friendly Performance of The Painted Garden

Posted by on Apr 13, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

Segerstrom Center for the Arts has scheduled a Sensory Friendly performance of The Painted Garden performed by Compagnia TPO on Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m. in Samueli Theater. During this immersive, interactive dance and multimedia show, children are invited to accompany dancers on stage where sensors respond to movement and sound. Spontaneous and filled with surprising twists, the show is a memorable adventure for children where they not only observe the story of the wonderful garden, but also experience it with their bodies. Sensory Friendly performances are geared towards patrons with sensory sensitivity and their families. They often feature ambient lighting throughout the performance, and a reduction of or warning about loud sounds. Additionally, traditional theater etiquette rules are more relaxed. Patrons can move around and enter and exit the theater as needed as well as use...

We visited as a guest of YouTube My son has never played Minecraft, but he sure loves watching one of his favorite YouTube stars Dan TDM play the game. Over the past couple of years, he has been watching his YouTube channel, and I didn’t realize how big of a fan he was until we got an invite to go to YouTube Space in LA to meet Dan TDM. When I mentioned the invitation to my son, he nearly passed out with excitement. He circled the date on my calendar and started counting down the days until he was going to meet his favorite YouTube star. I waited until we were on our way to LA to surprise my son with the news that he was going to get a one on one meet and greet with Dan TDM...

On-the-Scene with Spider-Man: Homecoming Star Tom Holland

Posted by on Apr 6, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 2 comments

I attended the interview as a guest of Sony/Marvel Last year, I got the invitation of a lifetime. I opened my email to find out that I was invited to fly to Atlanta to go to the set where they were filming Spider-Man: Homecoming. The only thing was that I couldn’t tell anyone where I was going. I had to go dark on social media and disappear for a couple of days to see them film a scene from the movie and interview some of the cast. One of my favorite interviews while on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming was with Tom Holland (Spider-Man) and Jacob Batalon (Ned, Spider-Man’s best friend). I had just finished watching them film a scene from the film, and I sat down with Tom Holland and Jacob Batalon to talk about the film. We...

The Boss Baby: Something for Everyone

Posted by on Mar 31, 2017 in Film | 0 comments

Earlier this month, my sister, Shan and I, along with a group of L.A. mom’s, dad’s and kids, attended a screening of DreamWorks’ “The Boss Baby”, an adorable, touching, and hilarious animated movie adapted from Marla Frazee’s acclaimed children’s book of the same name. The screening was followed by a Q & A with Lisa Kudrow, Director Tom McGrath, and Producer Ramsey Ann Naito, moderated by Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein, AKA TheMOMS. I am a long time fan of the smart, funny, beautiful Lisa Kudrow, so I was psyched to hear a little about what went on behind the scenes. And as a bonus, we got a snapshot into Kudrow’s mind. For a quick peek, take a look at this video where she answers rapid-fire questions from The MOMS in 60 seconds. So what about the movie?...

Why Teens Should See The Zookeepers Wife

Posted by on Mar 31, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

When my mom told me that she had tickets to the premiere, I immediately knew that I wanted to go with her to see the film. When we took our seats in the theater, I was so excited for the film to start. I had watched the trailer over and over again until I was able to watch the full movie. I love movies that teach me about the history and the world before I knew it. True story films are always the best movies to watch. When the movie started playing, I...
