Inside Look into Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Live at The Segerstrom Center

Posted by on May 12, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue My two teen daughters have many diverse hobbies and interests, but two main obsessions – music and Harry Potter. My 16-year-old has read the series eight times through, enjoyed the films many times over, and is a member of her high school’s Harry Potter Club called The Muggles of YL. She also plays the flute and piano in the high school marching, concert, and jazz bands. My 14-year-old is similarly fanatical about the “Wizarding World” and is a violinist in her middle school orchestra. So you can imagine their disbelief followed by extreme excitement to learn they’d be treated to a behind-the-scenes rehearsal and performance of a Harry Potter film with live orchestration. The acclaimed Pacific Symphony, led by renowned conductor Jeffrey Schindler performing John Williams’ award-winning and memorable music from...

We visited as a guest of the venue On Saturday my daughter and I had an afternoon theater date at the Laguna Beach Playhouse.  The show was Wizard of Oz and was brought to life by a marvelous group of actors. The play is based on the famous movie and follows Dorothy’s travels through the Land of Oz. If you have never seen a play at the Laguna Beach Playhouse, you must attend a show at least once.  The location is cozy and every seat has a great view of the stage.  Before the show the courtyard has some activities, with the lobby inside serving drinks and snacks.  The shows tend to offer meet and greet with the cast after the show. For our show the lobby offered raffle prize of a beach bike (super cool yellow beach cruiser and...

Posted by on May 3, 2017 in Entertainment, Events, Theatre | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue How lovely is it that a musical can stop time and capture two of the most basic feelings of life; love and happiness! If you are like us and enjoy the theater, then we have a fantastic recommendation for you! We were invited to attend the recent opening night of “An American in Paris,”at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The movie we all know so well from the 1950’s inspired the creation of the musical for the stage, and it is truly breathtaking and beautiful. The story is set on a young American soldier and a sweet, beautiful French girl in the city of Paris, 1945 at the end of the Second World War. The two main characters are looking for new beginnings at the end of such a tragic...

Peter Pan Soars to New Heights in Finding Neverland

Posted by on Mar 27, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

Sponsored Peter Pan is one of my most favorite childhood stories, so naturally, when I heard that Finding Neverland was going to be coming to the Segerstrom Center for the Arts I couldn’t wait to bring one of my children to see it. I am a major theater geek, and I love that I am raising my youngest son and daughter also to share my love for the arts. The night of the premiere of Finding Neverland, my two kids were both begging me to take them to see the show, and it was hard to choose just one to bring with me. I flipped a coin, and my youngest son Tyler was the lucky one who got to come with me to see the magical story of how Peter Pan came to life. The performance was incredible from...

Whipped Cream Ballet at the Segerstrom Center

Posted by on Mar 17, 2017 in Entertainment, Events, Theatre | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue I love ballet, and I love going to see it with my Dad. When I was little, I used to take ballet classes, and it was so fun. As the days went on I got busier and busier, and it was hard for me to keep up, so I decided to stop. Since I love ballet so much, I always get excited when the Segerstrom Center for the Arts hosts the American Ballet Theatre. I saw the Nutcracker at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, and it was probably one of the best ballets I have ever seen until now. This time I went to see the ballet Whipped Cream and it was fantastic! This ballet was unlike anything I have ever seen before. From the creative costumes to the amazing...

Batsheva Dance Company: Decadence

Posted by on Feb 23, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue. One thing I absolutely love doing is taking time away and dipping in the arts. This venue was no ordinary dip…it an artistic plunge! Segerstrom Center for the Arts presented Israel’s acclaimed Batsheva Dance Company in the Segerstrom Hall for a special one-night-only engagement. This ballet company brought in a whole new revolutionized dance. After sinking back in my red velvet-plush theatre chair at the Segerstrom Hall, I couldn’t help but be excited! The Batsheva Dancers awed the crowds from beginning to end. It was poetry in motion watching the performers drift, almost effortlessly, across the stage. For five decades, the Batsheva Dance Company has been considered one of the foremost contemporary dance companies in the world. I’ve had the privilege of attending many ballets in my lifetime (the Royal Opera...

Posted by on Feb 6, 2017 in Education, Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of OCSA Last week I had the opportunity to have a one-on-one interview with Ali Stroker at Orange County School of the Arts (OSCA). My mom and I attended the “Performing with the Pros” showcase performance at OCSA featuring Ali Stroker. Ali Stroker had been working with the students in the showcase for weeks leading up to the performance by sharing her talents and inspiring the group of students to reach for their dreams. Ever since I was ten, I have been watching Glee and The Glee Project, so I was so excited to meet Ali Stroker in real life and not just on a television screen. In case you don’t know Ali Stroker is, she is the first ever Broadway star in a wheelchair, and she also stars in multiple shows. When we...

The Magic of Matilda the Musical

Posted by on Jan 23, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue Ever since I was about five, I started watching the movie “Matilda.” I watched it at home, at my Grandparent’s house and I would bring it to my friend’s houses with me. When I was old enough to read chapter books, one of the first books I read was Matilda. I have literally grown up with Matilda, so when I went to see the Nutcracker, and I saw that they were going to make a musical out of Matilda, I was so excited that when I got home, I quickly asked my mom if we could go. When we got to the theater, I was so excited, but unfortunately on opening day they had some technical difficulties and the show was canceled. I was upset at first, but my mom reassured...

Posted by on Dec 26, 2016 in Christmas, Entertainment, Holiday, Theatre | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue Earlier this week, we were invited to watch the musical Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. We were so excited when we received tickets for the musical because we have been watching the classic 1964 Claymation movie almost daily. The Dolby Theatre is relatively new and every seat has a perfect view of the stage. It made the experience that much more special. My three-year-old son and one-year-old daughter both love the movie, as do my husband and I. It brought me back to when I was growing up and would watch the movie with my parents. The musical follows the sequence of the beloved movie and is narrated by Sam the Snowman. They had performers and even puppeteers to enhance the performance making it feel as if you were...

Amazing Disney on Ice Worlds of Enchantment

Posted by on Dec 22, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue Last night my family and I had the opportunity to see Disney on Ice Worlds of Enchantment at the Honda Center. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed the show. My three year old left the show asking to go back to see it tomorrow and my one year old watched in amazement. This show is so well done and entertaining it had both of my young kiddos sitting still and watching in awe the entire time. Mickey and Minnie host the show by introducing scenes from Toy Story 3, The Little Mermaid, Cars, and Frozen. Each storyline was presented with such talent from the ice skaters as they tell the story of each of the movies. Toy Story 3 started in Andy’s room as he says goodbye to his toys before he...

We visited as a guest of the venue If you are looking for something fun to do with your children this holiday season, Elf the Musical at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts is the place to bring them. Elf is my youngest son’s favorite holiday movie, and the minute that I saw Elf the Musical was coming to Orange County, I knew that I had to get tickets to bring him to see the show. With my two older children off for holiday break and my youngest still in school, I couldn’t wait to lift his spirits by surprising him with a night out at the Segerstrom Center. The minute that he heard me say, “Elf the Musical,” he screamed with excitement. Since it’s just a couple of days before Christmas, we left early to beat the traffic...
