Choosing a Cleanse that’s Right for You

Posted by on Nov 12, 2016 in Family, Fitness, Health | 0 comments

There are so many moms who struggle with weight loss. It has been one of my biggest personal challenges over the past couple of years, and I have found myself trying many diet programs and cleanses. I have done extreme dieting, and many cleanses over the years, and have found nothing that I could not withstand long term until recently starting the Newport Beach Cleanse. When looking for a diet plan or cleanse, it is important to find a program that is a lifestyle change, and not a dramatic plan with lots of lofty promises. While doing cleanses in the past, I have always felt deprived, hungry, and just plain miserable. Once the program is over, I always go back to jumping on the carb and sugar drain where I gain the weight back, plus a few new...

Yoga Doesn’t Take Time, It Gives Time

Posted by on Sep 9, 2016 in Family, Fitness | 0 comments

I love coffee. I love yoga. I have a full time career. Now guess which one of those is the hardest to fit into my schedule? You guessed it, YOGA! But when I met Caffe Yoga’s founder and skilled yogi, Kimberly Tollman, she reminded me that yoga doesn’t take time, it gives time. As a woman in today’s high paced society, it’s hard to always remember that, but at the end of the day, we must. Walking into their charming studio, I was impressed with their large one room space, but not overwhelmed with the typical excessive yogapant shop-in-shop or over eccentric receptionist. Their studio is warm, inviting and adorned with incredible custom art pieces from local artists. The main wall is backlit with a large colorful mandala overlay, which provided a peaceful background to my vinyasa flow....

Fabletics Fitness Clothing Store Comes to OC

Posted by on Aug 17, 2016 in Family, Fitness, Shopping | 0 comments

We attended a preview event as a guest of the venue Big news for us, fitness-minded people, looking for cute, and comfortable workout apparel in Orange County. We have a new Fabletics retail location which recently opened in The Shops at Mission Viejo. It was so exciting for me because I enjoy working out and I really like the Fabletics line. On a recent evening, I popped in to take a peek at the store up close. While familiar with Fabletics; having used their monthly active wear service delivered to my home, I really love the idea that I can now try things on first. Like most, my body type is a little hard to fit, since I’m only 5’1 and basically have no waist. I’ve had great results during my membership, but occasionally I need to return an...

Don’t Miss the Rams Training Camp at UCI

Posted by on Aug 16, 2016 in Events, Featured, Fitness | 2 comments

I grew-up in a house full of girls, and I don’t have a memory of watching a single football game as a child. It wasn’t until meeting my husband that I was introduced to the sport, and with his family being huge Rams fans (even though they left for Saint Louis) I began sitting through many nights watch football on television. Now that I have children, and two boys, a love for football was passed down to my boys from their father and grandfather. Who is their favorite team? The Rams. The first gift that my kids were given from the grandfather was a St. Louis Rams baby onesie. Over time, my boys have collected everything Rams from ponchos to t-shirts, and they have a massive collection of Rams memorabilia. When the news broke that the Rams were...

Mermaid Yoga Birthday Party at Grace + Zen

Posted by on May 31, 2016 in Family, Fitness, Health | 0 comments

We attended as guests of the studio. Last year a chic new yoga and ballet studio, Grace + Zen, opened in South Orange County.Centrally located in San Juan Capistrano right off the 5 freeway, Grace + Zen offers classes for both boys and girls ages infant to teen as well as camps and parties. We were so excited about the party packages they offer that we just had to try it out for ourselves.  And let me tell you, the experience was delightful! Nicki Sulon, owner and founder and certified children’s yoga and dance instructor, understands that busy Moms want options when it comes to throwing birthday parties. Some years a party may be an all out extravaganza; and some years time and energy limit the soiree.  But in any case, as Moms we want it to be a memorable and fun...

Full Mind, Full Body, Full Psycle

Posted by on Mar 19, 2016 in Family, Fitness, Health | 0 comments

We attended a complimentary class Full Psycle was created by three unique individuals with different fitness backgrounds who came together to create a full body workout that would be the average spin class forever. The duration of the 60-minute class consists of multiple 2-3 minute long races, steep hill climbing, downhill sprints and strength training. Each class combines hand weights to build strength in arms, back and shoulders. Plus working your core with dips, push-ups and side bends while cycling simultaneously. Yes…I said push-ups while you’re cycling! Intense! I walked into a Costa Mesa office building, to a smaller than usual studio front and quickly realized this cycle studio was a place to work out! It wasn’t the traditional bright, trendy hang out or scene that I was used to with catching up with friends, but rather a race...

Three Tips For Inspiring a Young Athletes to Never Give Up

Posted by on Mar 13, 2016 in Family, Fitness, Health, Hot Topics, Parenting | 0 comments

This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/POWERADE Sports can be challenging for the athlete and the parents. Young athletes can be pushed to their limits in competitive sports, and sadly some end up giving up on their dreams. My son, Tyler had always dreamed of playing football, and while we were waiting for him to bulk up so he could give the game a try, it never happened. But, we didn’t let him give up on his dream of playing football, and helped to support him on his journey and fueled his love for the game. Once he started playing football, he was the smallest one on the team, and had to give 110% to keep up with the other athletes, but that didn’t stop him. He persevered, worked hard, and ended up being the strongest player on the...

We were recently invited back to attend another fabulous Mindful Her event at Seven Degrees in Laguna Beach. After wrapping up the holidays it was such a treat to nurture ourselves with this group of lovely ladies, there were a little over 150 of us gathered together. The focus for this day was “The Beauty Within” and we were more than ready to find our inner beauty. The event founders, Kelly Lam and Joanne Forster greeted all of us with their contagious, positive energy! We just love these two ladies and we’re sure you will too! The day was sure to expand our knowledge as well as inspire us with such a great line up of guest speakers. We had the privilege of hearing from six beautiful women, each sharing their areas of specialty paired with ginormous smiles. Megan...

Five Tips to Getting Healthier in the New Year

Posted by on Jan 16, 2016 in Fitness, Health | 0 comments

Sponsored Every New Year, it is the same thing. So many of us are looking for new ways to be healthier, and many of us resort to crash (or extreme) diets. Getting healthier in the New Year doesn’t have to mean resorting to extreme diet tactics but focusing on your overall health including your mind, body, and soul. These are five simple tips for getting healthier and #StartSmart2016 in the New Year. Stay Active Staying active is key to maintaining a healthy body. Instead of driving your kids to the park, try walking. One of my favorite ways to ensure that my entire family stays active is by going for a nightly walk together after dinner. It not only maintains a strong family foundation but also keeps us active. Parents can also track their activity using a monitoring device...

Posted by on Nov 24, 2015 in Beauty, Family, Fitness, Health | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the Hydration Room It’s one of the busiest times of year when all of us could use a little extra care regarding our health. The Hydration Room specializes in IV and injection therapies which administer a variety of vitamin packed doses; always tailored to each individuals needs at the time of visit.  Dr. Florie DO, MD and Dr. Bales, MD have created an environment and much needed place to get that extra care.  As two board certified Anesthesiologists they are onto something golden....

Finding the Perfect Fitness Shoes at Endurance House

Posted by on Nov 4, 2015 in Family, Fashion, Fitness, Shopping | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue I love my flip flops. I am rarely spotted around town wearing anything other than flip flops. I’ve hiked in them, traveled with them and spent most of my adult like wearing them. When I was invited on a trip of a lifetime to hike in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, I knew that I had to bring a good pair of tennis shoes for hiking – but realized I didn’t know where to start when looking for a good pair of tennis shoes to bring with me on my trip. I began asking around to many of my friends, and they all recommended the same place – Endurance House in Laguna Niguel. I went into the store with my younger son and was immediately greeted by the nicest staff members. They...

Marathon Bucket List: The 40th Marine Corps Marathon

Posted by on Nov 3, 2015 in Family, Fitness, Health | 0 comments

I had the great privilege to run the 40th annual Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, October 25, 2015. This marathon is a “bucket list” race for many runners – it’s The People’s Marathon, a race unlike any other. Prior to this weekend I was amazed how many fellow runners had encouraged me to add this race to my list – by and far it was the race most often mentioned as a “must run”. It’s not a particularly fast course – in fact the last .2 miles is all uphill, which is really kind of crummy from a running perspective. It’s also held in October – which means the bulk of your training, including your longest training runs, are done during the hotest months of the year. So I wondered, what makes this race so special? Yes, it’s in DC and...

Bike Riding at the Balboa Peninsula Boardwalk

Posted by on Oct 27, 2015 in Family, Fitness, Health, Parenting | 0 comments

We are lucky enough to have sunshine and warm temperatures year round in Orange County. With us having such beautiful weather, it is important to raise our children to live an active lifestyle. One of our favorite weekend adventures to do as a family is to put the bikes on the back of our suburban and go for a long bike ride along the Balboa Peninsula Boardwalk. The boardwalk is the perfect place for families to go bike riding together in Orange County. It is protected from street traffic and boasts incredible views of the crystalline ocean water. In the past, the boys would always bring their bikes to the beach, and my daughter and I would rent a bike from the local bike shack until now. The two of us finally got our first brand-new Schwinn bikes...

Family Fitness Fun With PlayYourCourt

Posted by on Oct 26, 2015 in Family, Fitness, Health | 0 comments

We attended a complimentary class I’m not a natural athlete…believe it or not. Wasn’t too skilled at soccer, softball, or basketball like most of my friends growing up. I had longed to pick up a sport of some kind. Then one day during a high school P.E. class, I realized there was a sport I really enjoyed, and I was kind of good at: tennis. My relationship with the racquet and the little yellow ball continued to grow throughout my teen and adult life. Even my football-sized husband, and I started playing tennis together. And then something happened…kids. The thought of bringing my delicate little baby in a giant stroller or sling to the court created overwhelming anxiety with visions of the ball smacking my little one in the forehead. I gently stored our old racquets under the bed....
