Touching Gray Whales in Magdalena Bay Mexico

Posted by on Feb 23, 2017 in Featured, La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest If you’ve been following our family travel adventures, then you know how much we love to have unique and adventurous travel experiences. A couple of years ago, I heard about how during a short period out of the year, families can touch wild gray whales in Magdalena Bay, Mexico. That’s right – you can touch wild gray whales!! I didn’t realize that Magdalena Bay was close to La Paz, Mexico until a friend of mine posted that it was whale season in Magdalena Bay on her Facebook page. The minute that she told me that Magdalena Bay was just a couple of hours drive from La Paz, I went online to book our airline tickets to visit La Paz to see the whales. Why can you touch gray whales in Magdalena Bay and nowhere...

How to use the ‘CBX’ Cross Border Xpress

Posted by on Feb 22, 2017 in Featured, La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

I love traveling to Mexico. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The country is rich with culture, delicious food, and welcoming people. Ever since I learned about the Cross Border Xpress (CBX), I will never travel to Mexico again without using it. Families can get flights to different regions of Mexico at 75% less than flying out of John Wayne or LAX. Last weekend, our family was able to have a weekend getaway to La Paz for less than the price of going to Palm Springs for the weekend!! Many of my friends are constantly asking me questions about how the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) works, so I decided to write a step-by-step guide on what to expect and how your family can use this great service to enjoy the benefits of affordable travel...

Sponsored Da na na na na na na BATMAN! The highly anticipated time has come for The Lego Batman movie to debut to the world in theaters on July 10th. My son lives, breathes and dreams about legos. When I told him the news that we were going to Los Angeles for the World Premiere of The Lego Batman Movie as a guest of Chevrolet, he squealed with delight. Did you know that the Batmobile is a Chevrolet? That’s right – it sure is! Since Batman drives a Chevrolet, we couldn’t arrive at the premiere driving any other kind of car. The morning of the premiere, we got into our cool blue Chevrolet Cruz Hatchback and cruised down the freeway to the premiere. I downloaded The Lego Batman soundtrack album to my iPhone, plugged my phone into the Chevrolet...

We visited as a guest of the venue Ready for some happy news? Trader Joe’s took over the grocery store exhibit at Pretend City in Irvine! This fun and engaging children’s museum started off their New Year with a bang. My family and I were over the moon hearing the news and were very excited to get a sneak peek. Donnie Martin, Orange County Regional Vice President for Trader Joe’s, was in person giving us the tour of the new kid-scale Trader Joe’s. “We are so excited to bring a Trader Joe’s grocery exhibit to help children throughout the neighborhood and beyond learn about the adventures in shopping,” said Donnie. New Year and New Lashes

We visited as a guest As mom’s, it is important to take time to spoil ourselves once in awhile. We work so hard to care for our families that we all deserve some pampering from time to time. Ever since I started wearing hair extensions (almost ten years ago), I have wanted to try eyelash extensions. All of my friends who have them look fabulous and the best part is that they never have to wear mascara in the morning. Once we wrapped up the busyness of the holidays, I made an appointment at Amazing Lash Studio Monarch Beach. When I arrived at the lash studio, I was immediately in love. The studio has a spa-like vibe, and the staff made me feel comfortable in one of their plush chairs while going through the process with me. While sipping...

Some of the links in this post are affiliate links After falling off a horse as a child, I have been fearful of horseback for most of my life. My younger son loves animals, and the one thing that he wanted to do when we were in Jamaica was to go horseback riding. It was time for me to tackle my fears, and I made reservations for us to go on a Jamaican horseback riding adventure. We arrived at a ranch in Jamaica after some ziplining and river tubing fun to find a wide variety of beautiful horses just waiting to greet our children. My kids ran over to the horses and immediately started rubbing their faces and giving them kisses. I told the staff about my fear of riding a horse, and they advised me just to stay...

Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park

Posted by on Jan 5, 2017 in Carlsbad, Featured, Parks, Travel | 0 comments

Whenever I visit a new place with my children, I always look for a place to take them hiking or exploring a historic place. While we were on a recent trip to Carlsbad, I added a stop to the Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park. The historic park is somewhere that I had always wanted to visit with my children, but didn’t seem to find the time to make our way down to Carlsbad to explore. We first went the park on a Monday to discover that they were closed, so I made arrangements for us to return the next day before heading back to Orange County. When we arrived at the ranch, we drove down a long driveway to the parking lot. We parked the car and began exploring the beautiful park. The first thing that my kids...

Lhooq Bookstore in Carlsbad

My kids love to read. It is their favorite thing to spend their free time doing. When I took my two older kids to Carlsbad for a weekend getaway, I couldn’t wait to surprise them by taking them to a real bookstore. Not the commercial type of bookstore that they are used to visiting, but the kind of bookstore that were abundant when I was a child. When we arrived at Lhooq Bookstore, they couldn’t believe their eyes. The bookstore is adorned with big beautiful murals and filled with thousands of classic and antique books. My older son spent hours looking at each book in the store, carefully selecting the books that he wanted to bring home. The owner of the bookstore was so knowledgeable, and spent time talking to my children about the types of books they...

Aliso Viejo Waterfall Hike

Posted by on Dec 30, 2016 in Aliso Viejo, Featured, Hiking Trails, Parks | 0 comments

There are two things that I love to explore with my children – sea caves and waterfalls. Last year, I shared some of my favorite places to discover waterfalls with your family. Some of them are harder to find than others, and while I was enjoying sharing my favorite waterfall discoveries, there was one that I could never seem to find – the Aliso Viejo waterfall…until now. My younger son recently started attending Journey School in Aliso Viejo at the beginning of this school year, and every week he talks to me about the nature hikes his teacher takes him on, with one being to the Aliso Viejo waterfall. I waited until after the big rain that we had last night to have him bring me to this magical place where he and his friends play every week....

We visited as a guest of Disney One of our favorite things to do at the Disneyland Resort during the holiday season is to watch the Disney ¡Viva Navidad! Street Party. The costumes, the music, and the magic always get our family into the Christmas spirit. The street party happens multiple times throughout the day at Disney California Adventure Park. The first thing that your family will see are the beautiful folklorico dancers leading the parade followed by Panchito, José Carioca, and Donald on a large float. The folklorico dancers give an epic performance offering families a taste of the Latin-American culture. A street party wouldn’t be complete without Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Whoville House in Mission Viejo

Posted by on Dec 20, 2016 in Christmas, Featured, Holiday | Comments Off on Whoville House in Mission Viejo

Taking the kids driving around to look at Christmas lights is one of our favorite holiday traditions. This year, we wanted to explore some new houses that we have never visited before, and the Whoville House in Mission Viejo is one of our new favorites. The house is located at 26152 Cordillera in Mission Viejo, and this is the 23rd year that the owners have been decorating their house themed after “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” When you family first arrives at the house, we recommend finding a legal parking spot and walk over to admire the lights. You’ll see a wide variety of handmade/hand-painted wood cut-outs, and there is a small photo opportunity with “The Grinch” wood cut-out. Bring your family this year to admire the beautiful work done by the family to create a magical Whoville...
