Springtime Fun at Irvine Park Railroad’s Easter Eggstravaganza

Posted by on Mar 7, 2016 in Easter, Events, Featured, Holiday | 0 comments

We attended as guests of Irvine Park Railroad. Each year Spring is celebrated and Easter season in kicked off by the Easter Eggstravaganza held at Irvine Park Railroad.  This is THE event to be at as far as Easter in concerned in Orange County ,and my kiddos, ages one through six, thought it was an absolute ball! When you enter the parking lot at Irvine Regional Park dedicated to the Irvine Park Railroad, you pull up to a big tractor-pulled hay ride, which of course catches any toddler boy’s eye immediately, and you can view glimpses of the games and bounce houses lying just beyond the train in the grove area of the park. After you catch up with your kids (who all took off running for the fun), you can wonder around under the trees to the various booths...

DIY Leaf and Flower Print Easter Eggs

Posted by on Mar 31, 2015 in Crafts, Easter, Family, Holiday | 0 comments

The kids and I love spending time out exploring nature. Since we love nature, I wanted to try making leaf and flower print Easter eggs with them this year. Little did I know that it would be a full day adventure trying to figure out the easiest way to make the eggs, so I had to share the do’s and don’ts of making these beautiful decorative eggs with your kids this year. First we started by purchasing silk gift bags to put the eggs into the dye with the leaves and flowers. Unfortunately, the dye leaked under the leaves because the silk bags were not tight enough. So for round two, I used pantyhose, and it worked perfectly. When it comes to the dye, I always recommend making homemade dye if your kids are going to eat the...

Here in Orange County, we are truly blessed to have many family events that are free of charge! Hosted by Compass Bible Church of Aliso Viejo, their Eggstravaganza event was held on 4/18 (Friday) from 9:30am-11:30am, at the Laguna Hills Community Center. As in the past, in addition to the Community Center parking lot, the Laguna Hills High School parking lot was available so there was plenty of free parking. The event included several bounce houses, craft tables, face painting, balloon artists, raffles, donuts, fruits, popcorn, churros, cotton candy, coffee, water bottles, juice packs, and of course Egg Hunt! DIY Peeps Floral Arrangement

Posted by on Apr 11, 2014 in Crafts, Easter, Holiday | 1 comment

Springtime is full of beautiful blooming flowers and all the stores are stocked full of Peeps candies for Easter. I figured I would combine both to make a very easy DIY floral arrangement. This is something that takes little time to complete, so even a beginner crafter will be able to wow people with it. If you do not want to use the grass you can also use jellybeans or other little candies in the vase as a filler. The whole point in making crafts, is creating something that you like. Never worry about changing stuff to suit your style. I am a trial and error kind of crafter. I am always changing things up to fit my needs and likes. This is how I have created some of my favorite things. Supplies needed: 5 boxes of bunny...

Zip-a-dee-doo-da zip-a-dee-a! My, oh my what a wonderful day! Plenty of sunshine is heading my way as we made our way to the Disneyland Springtime Roundup! From the moment, that we entered Frontierland, we were greeted with beautiful floral arrangements and plenty of sunshine to go around. The springtime flowers are in full bloom on signs, kiosks and all along the path leading to the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree arena. The magical floral masterpiece that caught my eye was a wagon fully decorated in flowers at the entrance to the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree Arena where the Springtime Roundup is taking place. Once we walked inside the entrance there were different meet and greet character areas, where we had our photos taken with Roger Rabbit, The Easter Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Pluto with his adorable bunny...

These cookies are simple enough to make, that even a non baker will be able to make them with ease. Here is what you will need: Sugar cookie dough (I used Martha Stewart recipe http://www.marthastewart.com/338471/basic-sugar-cookies ) If you use your own dough make sure it is good for sugar cookie cut outs. If the dough is too soft the candy will spill out and not stay inside the desired area.   Egg shaped cookie cutter Small shaped cookie cutters – these will...

Focusing on the True Meaning of Easter with Children

Posted by on Apr 2, 2014 in Culture, Easter, Featured, Holiday | 2 comments

My favorite season of the year is Spring. Everything is green and clean, flowers are blooming, that first hit of summer’s warmth usually shines through, but it’s not yet too hot to enjoy being outside without being submerged in water. It’s the perfect time of year. Also, I was married and had both of my children in Spring – all within two weeks of each other (different years of course!) so Spring is a party in this house! Another reason to celebrate in Spring is, naturally, Easter. Brightly colored eggs abound, there’s always a funny looking life-sized bunny somewhere to be found, families gathers for brunch, little girls don pretty pastel dresses and little boys might even clean up in slacks and a tie. But there’s more to Easter than just this. Christians are able to celebrate Easter...
