The Art of Dr. Seuss Gallery in Laguna Beach

Posted by on Mar 22, 2017 in Best of OC, Museums, Staycation | 2 comments

“Oh, the places you’ll go.” That is one of my favorite quotes from Dr. Seuss, and so true about sharing the world with our children. One of my favorite things to do with my children is to go exploring, and when you explore, you find hidden gems just like we did while on a recent staycation in Laguna Beach. During our staycation, the weather wasn’t as sunny as we had wished, so we made the best of our little getaway and went exploring the different art museums in Laguna Beach. That was when we discovered an amazing hidden gem – The Art of Dr. Seuss Gallery. The gallery didn’t have any signage to show us exactly what is was, but a piece of Dr. Seuss artwork that was in the window caught the eye of my younger son...

Eric Carle Books Come to Life at Discovery Cube

Posted by on Mar 21, 2017 in Events, Museums | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue Some of my favorite bedtime memories have been reading Eric Carle books to my children. It doesn’t matter how old my children have gotten; they still love cuddling up with me on the couch to read an Eric Carle Book. They love watching the fireflies light up at the end of “The Very Lonely Firefly” and singing along with me to the story of “Brown Bear, Brown Bear.” When I learned that Discovery Cube OC was hosting a limited-time Eric Carle exhibit, I couldn’t wait to bring my children to explore the exhibit. The minute that my children walked into Discovery Cube OC they were immersed into the world of the Eric Carle’s stories. My daughter put on a pair of butterfly wings and got ready to fly around the exhibit....

We attended the screening as a guest of the studio The all-new live action Beauty and the Beast is one of the best movies of the year. Our family fell in love with the film. It felt like we were being told the story for the first time, the music was captivating, the imagery was breathtaking, and the story was magical. We recommend children and adults of all ages go to see Beauty and the Beast. It is in theaters starting today. This is our family review of the film Beauty and the Beast. Disney’s Food & Wine Festival Beef Tenderloin Sliders Recipe

Posted by on Mar 15, 2017 in Disney, Recipes | 0 comments

Recipe courtesy of Disney Where’s the beef? It is at Disney California Adventure at the Food & Wine Festival. While eating my way through the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival, I enjoyed many delicious bites. One of the highlights of the festival was the Beef Tenderloin Sliders at the Garlic Kissed kiosk. The slider packed a large amount of meat that was juicy, flavorful, and every carnivore’s dream come true. Sliders are one of my go-to recipes to make on a busy night after the kids have had after school activities, and I need to make dinner in a dash. I was thrilled to find out that Disney was willing to share their secret recipe to this family-friendly “perfect” weeknight meal with us. Let’s get cooking, and make these tasty sliders for our families tonight. Make plans...

Josh Gad’s Kids Reaction to Him Playing LeFou

Posted by on Mar 15, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of Disney I’ll never forget the time that I saw Beauty and the Beast for the first time in theaters. It was in the winter of 1991, I was fifteen years old, and it was the first time that my parents let me go to a theater alone with my girlfriends. All I remember was being captivated by the music, falling in love with the characters, and realizing that true love really does exist. Flash forward over 25 years, and I find myself falling in love with the story all over again when watching the live action version in a Los Angeles theater. Only this time, I wasn’t the teenager, my two children sitting next to me were. I got to watch my fifteen-year-old son fall in love with the story just as much...

Guide to Have the Perfect Moana Movie Night

Posted by on Mar 6, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored Disney’s Moana is now available on digital download with Disney Movies Anywhere and will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD in stores starting tomorrow. One of our favorite family traditions is to have a movie night with friends when a new Disney movie is released to digital download or DVD/Blu-ray. During the summer, we have had many outdoor movie nights, and while we would have loved to have a Moana movie night as a “dive-in” movie at my in-laws pool, the rainy weather kept us indoors to celebrate the release of this magical Disney film. Although we couldn’t have the movie outdoors as we had wanted, we didn’t let that stop us from having an epic and unforgettable movie night with our friends and family. Once all the children were ready to watch the movie, we dimmed the...

Disney’s Moana Pua Cookies

Posted by on Mar 6, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Family, Film, Recipes | 0 comments

Sponsored Disney’s Moana is one of my favorite animation movies of last year. I loved the story, the music, and the message behind the film. It wasn’t just me that loved the film, but also my children. When I found out that we could watch the film before it was released on DVD with Disney Movies Anywhere, I couldn’t wait to download it and start watching it with my children. Ever since downloading it, we have watched it over and over again. We decided to invite some friends over for a fun Moana movie night, and since Pua is my younger son’s favorite character, I made adorable “Pua Cookies.” The cookies were a hit with the children attending our party, and the kids devoured every last crumb of the cookies. I brought them out to the children during one...

5 Disneyland Hacks for Families with Young Kids

Posted by on Mar 2, 2017 in Disney, Theme Parks | 0 comments

We attend as guests of the venue. There are very few places on earth that can compete with the Magic of Disneyland in the eyes of your little ones. The amazing rides, fun-filled experiences, and something new and exciting to see at every turn. But let’s face it, as a parent it can be overwhelming to navigate if you’re a Disneyland rookie going for the first time in awhile, or if you’re a well-traveled guest but going solo with a few kids in tow. I’ve done Disneyland alone with three young kids more times than I can count, and while it hasn’t always been all sunshine and smiling Mickey faces (what is with three small kids and their respective tantrum possibility?!), we’ve made memories that I hope they will recall well into their adult years.  I know I look back so fondly...

Posted by on Feb 24, 2017 in LegoLand, Theme Parks | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue As a mom of a superhero-loving son and daughter, I am well aware of all things that are superheroes.  Before my son became the guru of superheroes, I was the one that knew when the newest movie, toy, and event were happening. My children would marvel in my knowledge and ‘oh’ and ‘ah’ with each discovery (that might be an exaggeration, but it’s my story, and I am sticking to it!).  Sadly those days had long passed me until I got the invitation from Legoland for The Lego Batman Movie Days. For two weekends (February 18-19 and 25-26) you and your little superhero can experience the ultimate Lego Batman experience filled with photo opportunities with Batman, Lego Batman inspired activities and a scavenger hunt on top of all the other fun...

The Magical Disney Vault

Posted by on Feb 1, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of Disney If you’re a fan of Disney animated films, you already know that they often reference “The Vault.” It’s where the original films and artwork are allegedly kept. I was surprised and delighted to find that it really exists. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, The Disney Vault is real. A nondescript building in Glendale, California houses an amazing collection of Disney animation art dating back to the 1920’s where the storyboard sketches and animation cells are painstakingly preserved in a protected environment. The actual name of this magical place is the Walt Disney Animation Research Library (the ARL). The occasion for this visit was the release of the Walt Disney animation classic, Pinocchio on Blu-ray (available in stores now). The Disney Vaults – there are 11 of them – contain every sketch, every conceptual...
