Exploring the Puerto Vallarta Malecón

Posted by on Aug 9, 2016 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the Marriott After having an incredible dinner at El Arrayán in Puerto Vallarta, my daughter and I ended our evening with a sunset walk along the Malecón. The Puerto Vallarta Malecón is rich with art and entertainment and is an experience that everyone who is visiting the area must experience. The first thing we did was walk down to the sand to watch the beautiful colors of the sunset over the crystalline waters. It was a magical night that we both will never forget. After the sunset had ended, we joined some friends to walk along the Malecón. As we walked along the Malecón, we admired all the beautiful sculptures. The sculptures were all beautiful, and unique. It was an immersive cultural experience for my daughter. The shops and restaurants along the Malecón...

Romantic Oceanfront Dining in Puerto Vallarta

Posted by on Aug 6, 2016 in Dining, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue Whenever I am in Mexico, I am always looking for the best oceanfront restaurants. After having lunch at Las Casitas at CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, I made reservations to return for dinner. The food was spectacular, the views were breathtaking, and it was clearly the best place for a romantic oceanfront dinner. Even though I was not traveling with my husband, I knew it was the ideal location to relax and reconnect with my daughter over an exquisite cuisine while watching the sunset. We arrived at the restaurant after experiencing their interactive sunset guacamole presentation. We took our seat at a table overlooking the crystalline waters and ordered a couple of appetizers to start while enjoying the crisp ocean breezes. We started dinner with a small bite of...

Best Taco Stand in Puerto Vallarta: Tacos Robles

Posted by on Aug 3, 2016 in Dining, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue While staying at CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa we went on a food tour with Vallarta Food Tours, and they shared with us the best taco stand in Puerto Vallarta, Tacos Robles. Tacos Robles is a Birria Taco Stand. Birria originated in the state of Jalisco, and the competition every year is Guadalajara. Grandma and her husband started their taco stand in the early 70’s. Every year, they do a competition in Guadalajara. The husband had worked for a gentleman who won many awards, and he wanted to start his own, so Grandma had to come up with a recipe for their family, and that is what she did. They now own five places, and Taco Robles is the only one where Grandma (90-year-old) still works. They have not...

El Arrayán Cocina Mexicana in Puerto Vallarta

Posted by on Aug 2, 2016 in Dining, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue When looking for an authentic traditional Cocina Mexicana in Puerto Vallarta, El Arrayán is guaranteed to exceed your expectations. While staying at the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa the concierge recommended El Arrayán for dinner, and helped us to make reservations. When we arrived at the local restaurant, I was immediately in love with the decor. The restaurant was decorated with bright, vibrant colors, and the staff made us feel at home while dining at their restaurant. Since we were traveling during restaurant week, we both ordered off the pre fixe menu. We started our meal with freshly made chips and a variety of different salsas. We savored the flavors of the various salsas while looking over their menu. Everything on the menu was making my mouth water, and...

Teen Spa Day at the Ohtli Spa in Puerto Vallarta

Posted by on Aug 1, 2016 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

I visited as a guest of the venue While my mom and I were staying at the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, we couldn’t not have a spa day at Ohtli Spa. The spa has so many great options for teens and adults. While My mom was off getting her massage, I went into their nail salon to get my nails done. Once I walked in I was greeted with friendly staff and shelves filled with different colors of nail polish. I was automatically in awe with everything about the room, from all the nail polish to the comfy chairs. I sat down in one of the chairs, and the first thing I did was pick the color I wanted. I ended up choosing the color white. After I had picked my color, they brought a warm...

Oceanfront Dining at Las Casitas in Puerto Vallarta

Posted by on Jul 31, 2016 in Dining, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue After checking into our gorgeous room at CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, we walked to have lunch at the on-site oceanfront restaurant Las Casitas. The host found us the perfect table overlooking the ocean where I sipped on a margarita and felt all my stresses of daily life drift away while watching the waves crash on the beach. We started lunch with chips, guacamole, and salsa while overlooking the menu for lunch. The menu offered a little bit of everything from a traditional club sandwich to fish tacos. There were so many options that it was hard for us to decide what to order for lunch. The server recommended that I try the fish tacos, and it was the best recommendation. The dish featured three tacos loaded with fresh...

Posted by on Jul 13, 2016 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue I sat on the balcony of our oceanfront room at CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa watching the sunrise over the crystalline waters excited about spending the afternoon snorkeling at Los Arcos for the first time. On my previous trips to Puerto Vallarta, I had tried to make plans to snorkel at Los Arcos, but it never seemed to work out. I had heard so much about the beautiful fish that swim around the giant rock formations off the coastline, and couldn’t wait to experience it with my daughter. The concierge at the Marriott took care of all the arrangements for our excursion and made it where I didn’t have to worry about anything. When it was time to leave, there was a taxi waiting for us at the entrance...

Posted by on Jul 2, 2016 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue My favorite excursion while staying at the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta was visiting Las Animas Beach. The Canuwa tour took us snorkeling at Los Arcos before bringing us to Las Animas Beach for some much-needed relaxation and zip lining fun. The boat pulled up to the dock where we were greeted by the friendliest people who welcomed us to the beautiful beach club. We started our time at Las Animas Beach by doing the zip line at the adventure park. My daughter zipped through the forest and had the time of her life at the adventure park. Then it was time for rest and relaxation. After we had finished the zip line, comfortable beach chairs were waiting for us just steps away from the crystalline...

Swimming with Whale Sharks in La Paz Mexico

Posted by on Jun 20, 2016 in La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of La Paz The one thing that I never thought I would ever be able to check off my bucket list was swimming with whale sharks. It’s been something that I had wanted to do since I was a teenager and thought that you could only experience it when traveling to Australia until recently when I went to La Paz, Mexico. It has only been a couple of years since swimming with whale sharks has been allowed in La Paz because the people are very protective of the ecosystem and animals living in the waters surrounding the small beach town. While visitors are now allowed to swim with the sharks, tour guides are limited to only allowing a small amount of people in the water. When I went to La Paz last month, I...

Best Beach in Mexico: Balandra Beach in La Paz

Posted by on May 25, 2016 in Featured, La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of La Paz I have visited many beautiful beaches while traveling the world, but one beach clearly stood out to me as the most beautiful beach in the world, Balandra Beach. It was voted as one of the ten best beaches in Mexico by TripAdvisor, and it is clearly the #1 winner. Until visiting Balandra Beach in La Paz, Grace Bay beach in the Turks and Caicos was my favorite, but not anymore. Balandra Beach is unlike any other beach I have visited before. It is a perfectly shaped cove where visitors can walk for miles into the crystalline turquoise water without the water getting higher than your waistline. The best part – it is rarely crowded. While I was standing on the edge of sand looking at the water, the water would change...

Elegant La Paz Dining at Steinbeck’s Restaurant

Posted by on May 23, 2016 in Dining, La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of La Paz When staying at Costa Baja Resort & Spa a night at Steinbeck’s is a must. The elegant restaurant features one of the best chefs in Baja who is pushing culinary boundaries with his delicious creations. On our second night in La Paz, we made reservations to have dinner at Steinbeck’s, and it was one of my favorite meals in La Paz. I had already snuck a quick taste of the chef’s talents when having a couple of appetizers after a full day at Balandra beach. The quesadilla that the chef made was mind blowing, and truly the best quesadilla that I’ve ever sunk my taste buds into. Plus, their signature cocktail, the blue coconut Curacao, is unforgettable. Before taking our seat in the elegant restaurant, we listened to live music on...

How CBX Makes Traveling to Mexico Affordable

Posted by on May 18, 2016 in La Paz, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 6 comments

We traveled as a guest of La Paz I love Mexico. I love the people, the culture, the food, and the beauty of the country. Our family spends lots of time in Ensenada, Rosarito, and Valle de Guadalupe because it has always been affordable to drive down from Southern California. While I love spending my time in these regions of Mexico, there is so much more of the country I want to explore, but the cost of travel has always been too high to travel on a regular basis until the recent opening of the Cross Border Xpress (CBX). When making arrangements to visit La Paz for the first time, it was an ideal time to test out CBX. Flights to La Paz from John Wayne or LAX can range anywhere from $350+ per person, but when flying out...

Best Taco Shop in La Paz: Taqueria el Sabroso

Posted by on May 17, 2016 in La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of La Paz What is the first thing to do when visiting La Paz? Go to a local taco shop! After checking into the Costa Baja Resort and Spa, we drove to have authentic tacos at the popular local dining destination, Taqueria el Sabroso. While there are many places to get great tacos in La Paz, it is always the small local taco shops that are the best. When we arrived at Taqueria el Sabroso, my mouth started to water when I first breathed in the delicious aroma of the food being cooked. There was my favorite pork slowly spinning and marinating on a trompo just waiting to be thinly sliced to make amazing tacos al pastor, and fresh meats and vegetables ready to be sizzled on the grill. After taking our seat at...

The Best Ice Cream in La Paz: La Fuente

Posted by on May 17, 2016 in La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of La Paz Whenever I am in Mexico, I have to go for ice cream. When I had my first taste of ice cream while on a mission trip in Ensenada, it was love at first bite. The ice cream made in Mexico is nothing even close to the ice cream sold in the US because everything is made from scratch using real ingredients. Just hours after landing in La Paz, we had lunch at Bismarkcito, explored museo de la ballena, and then cooled down with some delicious ice cream at La Fuente. La Fuente is well known along the baja coastline for having some of the best ice cream in the region. The restaurant is decorated with festive colors that is inviting for families and has one of the largest selection of flavors...

Museo de La Ballena ‘Whale Museum’ in La Paz

Posted by on May 17, 2016 in La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of La Paz One of the neatest hidden gems in La Paz is the newly opened Museo de La Ballena (Whale Museum.) Located right along the Malecon it is a place where families are invited to learn about the different whales living in the waters surrounding the magical town of La Paz. When we first arrived at the museum, after having lunch at Bismarkcito, there was a giant whale skeleton outside the doors of the museum, and that was just a small taste of what was to come. We entered the museum into a gift shop where we were introduced to a guide who escorted us into the museum. The guide was one of the most knowledgable museum docents that I have had the pleasure of meeting, and carefully took his time to share...

Seafood and Ocean Breezes at Bismarkcito in La Paz

Posted by on May 16, 2016 in La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of La Paz Just a few minutes after our Volaris plane landed in La Paz from Tijuana, we took a short drive to the popular local dining destination, Bismarkcito. The owner of the restaurant started many years ago with a small fish taco stand along the Malecon, and over the years have grown to have one of the most popular family restaurants in La Paz. The restaurant features a large indoor circular bar where locals and tourists are often found sharing a cocktail together while basking in the cool ocean breezes. There is both indoor and patio seating, that both offer guests panoramic views of the crystalline waters. We were fortunate enough to get a table on the outdoor patio and sipped on a refreshing margarita while celebrating our arrival to the beautiful city...

Mommy Spa-cation at the Villa del Palmar Resort in Loreto

Posted by on Jan 7, 2015 in Featured, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the Villa del Palmar When was the last time you visited the spa? Or even thought of taking a mommy spa-cation?  As moms, we never stop working. We are up at night with bottle feedings, driving the carpool around town, cooking dinner, and putting band-aids on bobos. After three kids over the past 12 1/2 years, I was ready for a break. Not a break from my family, but a chance to relax, refresh, and reflect so that I could be a better mother. With all the running around I do, I never have time to sit and reflect on how I can be the best mom/wife. I planned a last-minute getaway for a mommy spa-cation in Loreto, Mexico, and I’ll be honest that I was overwhelmed with “mommy guilt” from the moment...
