Exploring the Puerto Vallarta Malecón

Posted by on Aug 9, 2016 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the Marriott After having an incredible dinner at El Arrayán in Puerto Vallarta, my daughter and I ended our evening with a sunset walk along the Malecón. The Puerto Vallarta Malecón is rich with art and entertainment and is an experience that everyone who is visiting the area must experience. The first thing we did was walk down to the sand to watch the beautiful colors of the sunset over the crystalline waters. It was a magical night that we both will never forget. After the sunset had ended, we joined some friends to walk along the Malecón. As we walked along the Malecón, we admired all the beautiful sculptures. The sculptures were all beautiful, and unique. It was an immersive cultural experience for my daughter. The shops and restaurants along the Malecón...

Romantic Oceanfront Dining in Puerto Vallarta

Posted by on Aug 6, 2016 in Dining, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue Whenever I am in Mexico, I am always looking for the best oceanfront restaurants. After having lunch at Las Casitas at CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, I made reservations to return for dinner. The food was spectacular, the views were breathtaking, and it was clearly the best place for a romantic oceanfront dinner. Even though I was not traveling with my husband, I knew it was the ideal location to relax and reconnect with my daughter over an exquisite cuisine while watching the sunset. We arrived at the restaurant after experiencing their interactive sunset guacamole presentation. We took our seat at a table overlooking the crystalline waters and ordered a couple of appetizers to start while enjoying the crisp ocean breezes. We started dinner with a small bite of...

Best Taco Stand in Puerto Vallarta: Tacos Robles

Posted by on Aug 3, 2016 in Dining, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue While staying at CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa we went on a food tour with Vallarta Food Tours, and they shared with us the best taco stand in Puerto Vallarta, Tacos Robles. Tacos Robles is a Birria Taco Stand. Birria originated in the state of Jalisco, and the competition every year is Guadalajara. Grandma and her husband started their taco stand in the early 70’s. Every year, they do a competition in Guadalajara. The husband had worked for a gentleman who won many awards, and he wanted to start his own, so Grandma had to come up with a recipe for their family, and that is what she did. They now own five places, and Taco Robles is the only one where Grandma (90-year-old) still works. They have not...

Posted by on Aug 2, 2016 in Dining, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue When looking for an authentic traditional Cocina Mexicana in Puerto Vallarta, El Arrayán is guaranteed to exceed your expectations. While staying at the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa the concierge recommended El Arrayán for dinner, and helped us to make reservations. When we arrived at the local restaurant, I was immediately in love with the decor. The restaurant was decorated with bright, vibrant colors, and the staff made us feel at home while dining at their restaurant. Since we were traveling during restaurant week, we both ordered off the pre fixe menu. We started our meal with freshly made chips and a variety of different salsas. We savored the flavors of the various salsas while looking over their menu. Everything on the menu was making my mouth water, and...

Teen Spa Day at the Ohtli Spa in Puerto Vallarta

Posted by on Aug 1, 2016 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

I visited as a guest of the venue While my mom and I were staying at the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, we couldn’t not have a spa day at Ohtli Spa. The spa has so many great options for teens and adults. While My mom was off getting her massage, I went into their nail salon to get my nails done. Once I walked in I was greeted with friendly staff and shelves filled with different colors of nail polish. I was automatically in awe with everything about the room, from all the nail polish to the comfy chairs. I sat down in one of the chairs, and the first thing I did was pick the color I wanted. I ended up choosing the color white. After I had picked my color, they brought a warm...

Posted by on Jul 31, 2016 in Dining, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue After checking into our gorgeous room at CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, we walked to have lunch at the on-site oceanfront restaurant Las Casitas. The host found us the perfect table overlooking the ocean where I sipped on a margarita and felt all my stresses of daily life drift away while watching the waves crash on the beach. We started lunch with chips, guacamole, and salsa while overlooking the menu for lunch. The menu offered a little bit of everything from a traditional club sandwich to fish tacos. There were so many options that it was hard for us to decide what to order for lunch. The server recommended that I try the fish tacos, and it was the best recommendation. The dish featured three tacos loaded with fresh...

Posted by on Jul 13, 2016 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue I sat on the balcony of our oceanfront room at CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa watching the sunrise over the crystalline waters excited about spending the afternoon snorkeling at Los Arcos for the first time. On my previous trips to Puerto Vallarta, I had tried to make plans to snorkel at Los Arcos, but it never seemed to work out. I had heard so much about the beautiful fish that swim around the giant rock formations off the coastline, and couldn’t wait to experience it with my daughter. The concierge at the Marriott took care of all the arrangements for our excursion and made it where I didn’t have to worry about anything. When it was time to leave, there was a taxi waiting for us at the entrance...

We visited as a guest of the venue My favorite excursion while staying at the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta was visiting Las Animas Beach. The Canuwa tour took us snorkeling at Los Arcos before bringing us to Las Animas Beach for some much-needed relaxation and zip lining fun. The boat pulled up to the dock where we were greeted by the friendliest people who welcomed us to the beautiful beach club. We started our time at Las Animas Beach by doing the zip line at the adventure park. My daughter zipped through the forest and had the time of her life at the adventure park. Then it was time for rest and relaxation. After we had finished the zip line, comfortable beach chairs were waiting for us just steps away from the crystalline...

How CBX Makes Traveling to Mexico Affordable

Posted by on May 18, 2016 in La Paz, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 6 comments

We traveled as a guest of La Paz I love Mexico. I love the people, the culture, the food, and the beauty of the country. Our family spends lots of time in Ensenada, Rosarito, and Valle de Guadalupe because it has always been affordable to drive down from Southern California. While I love spending my time in these regions of Mexico, there is so much more of the country I want to explore, but the cost of travel has always been too high to travel on a regular basis until the recent opening of the Cross Border Xpress (CBX). When making arrangements to visit La Paz for the first time, it was an ideal time to test out CBX. Flights to La Paz from John Wayne or LAX can range anywhere from $350+ per person, but when flying out...

Unforgettable Memories at Majahuitas and Fish Cove

Posted by on Aug 4, 2014 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 1 comment

On our last full day at Majahuitas in Mexico, we wanted to soak in all the beauty surrounding the eco-resort. Just as we sat down to have breakfast, the staff went running to the ocean shore. Of course, our boys are filled with curiosity and followed behind them to see what all the excitement was about. The entire cove was filled with a swarm of fish that the staff began to toss their fishing lines in to catch. The catch was great, and the boys were able to play a part in catching food that would feed the resort and the families of the staff members for weeks. It was just another amazing experience that made us not want our time at Majahuitas to end. After spending the morning fishing, we jumped into the kayaks and explored the...

Majahuitas and the Marieta Islands

Posted by on Aug 3, 2014 in Featured, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 5 comments

One of the things that drew us towards a family vacation in Puerto Vallarta was being able to visit the Marieta Islands. I had a picture of “the hole” as my computer screen saver for many years dreaming about the day that I could see the “secret beach” in real life. When we first arrived at the Majahuitas Resort, they helped us to arrange a charter boat to bring our family and other guests at the resort to the Marieta Islands. We started off our fourth day at Majahuitas with fresh fruit with yogurt and huevos rancheros. It was a protein packed breakfast to give us the energy we needed to swim around the Marieta Islands. Immediately after breakfast, the boat came right to the beach in front of our resort to pick-up all the families staying at the...

Exploring the Majahuitas Resort

Posted by on Jul 31, 2014 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 1 comment

On our third day at the Majahuitas Resort, we spent the day exploring the stunning beach and crystalline waters. It was an unforgettable day that our family spent having intimate moments together. We started the morning having breakfast together with a panoramic view of the ocean. We enjoyed fresh fruit before indulging in our favorite breakfast during the trip, machaca. We were served the machaca with freshly made tortillas and a side of beans. Once breakfast was done, it was time to explore the waters surrounding the resort. The kids splashed and played in the water for hours. When the kids were not doing SUP (stand-up paddle boarding) they were snorkeling or floating in the water. We took a break from swimming in the private cove to kayak and explore the neighboring caves. The kids were able to...

Majahuitas: Quimixto Waterfall Hike in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Posted by on Jul 6, 2014 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 0 comments

The first night was the hardest at Majahuitas Resort. Adjusting from sleeping in a quiet house every night to sleeping with all the sounds of the jungle, animals, and bugs is a big change. There was a pot of coffee and hot chocolate waiting for us on the steps of the house before we awoke. We shared our experience sleeping in the jungle for the first time together over cups of coffee and hot chocolate before hearing the sound of a giant gong letting us know that it was time for breakfast. We walked along the dirt path to the main building where our semi-private family table was waiting for us. The staff welcomed us with big smiles and gracious greetings as they helped our family get settled in at the table for breakfast, even providing us with...

Beginning our Family Adventure at the Majahuitas Resort

Posted by on Jul 1, 2014 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 2 comments

We forgot to change our clocks, and we woke-up late in Puerto Vallarta. With just 10 minutes to pack our bags, we rushed downstairs to catch a cab to the town of Boca de Tomatlan where we had a water taxi scheduled to meet us at 11am to take us to Majahuitas Resort. We tossed everything into our suitcases, and took a 45 minute drive to the docks. When we arrived at the docks, there was a small cafe, and birds galore. Butterflies were like flies swarming around us as we walked around the small town, and the water was a dark deep brown where pelicans kept deep diving for fish. The humidity was so strong that the lens on my camera was fogging up just as the Majahuitas boat pulled into the docks to pick us up....

Exploring the Town of Puerto Vallarta

Posted by on Jun 30, 2014 in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Travel | 1 comment

Before getting to our final destination of the Majahuitas Resort, we spent our first day in the heart of Puerto Vallarta. As our plane was about to land, we were already captivated by the magic of Puerto Vallarta when seeing the beautiful green lush land below through our small airplane windows. We checked into the Westin, and immediately jumped into a cab to explore. After a day of traveling, and three hungry children, we took the recommendation of our friends and had lunch together at Pipi’s. Known for their flaming fajitas and massive margaritas, our family spent hours talking over dinner, while the children played together at a playground across the street. After dinner, we all met-up together at the playground to share our excitement about the upcoming days at the Majahuitas Resort. The clouds were starting to...
