Christmas Memories at the Irvine Park Railroad

We visited as a guest of the venue

Visiting Santa at the Irvine Park Railroad 2016

We have been taking our children to the Irvine Park Railroad Christmas Train since my oldest son was first born. This year was our 14th year attending the special holiday event. While we were at Irvine Park Railroad this year, I spent some time reflecting on all of the magical memories we have made at the park and felt a little sad that I only have a couple of more years to spend time at the park with my children before the all go off to college.

Our evening began by waiting in line anxiously to board the Christmas train. Families were all bundled up in their warmest jackets, and my children were giggling together while talking about what they were going to ask Santa for Christmas. Once our time came to board the train, our children were lucky to have gotten their favorite seat on the train – the very back.

We enjoyed every minute of the train ride that took us through a winter wonderland that sparkled with twinkling lights. Before we knew it, we had arrived at the “North Pole.”

Everyone on the train quickly ran towards the special place where Santa was waiting to hear every child’s Christmas wish. We sipped on a cup of hot cocoa and ate cookies while waiting for our time to see Saint Nick.

When my children went over to whisper their Christmas wish into Santa’s ear, I got a little emotional. My children are growing up so fast, and I could still picture the very first time that my oldest sat on Santa’s lap at the Irvine Park Railroad. We captured the memory with a photograph and then boarded the train to return to the train depot.

Before returning home, we visited Mrs. Claus where she read our children a holiday story and they played an interactive ice fishing game. It was the perfect ending to our special night at Irvine Park.
