Clean Cuisine at Coastal Kitchen in Dana Point

We dined as a guest

All of my friends have been raving about Coastal Kitchen in Dana Point, so when I was making plans for our family seaside staycation at the DoubleTree Suites Doheny Beach, I also made reservations for us to have dinner at Coastal Kitchen.

After a long day of endless fun in the sun, our children had worked up a big appetite. We got into the car and made the short drive from our hotel to the restaurant.

When we arrived at the restaurant, I was in awe of how beautiful it looked. There is a large outdoor patio and a fire pit with androck chairs by the front door – the only thing missing was some marshmallows to roast. The inside of the restaurant is even more beautiful than the outside. The entire interior has a chic nautical look and is the perfect ambiance for families to enjoy a relaxing meal together.

The restaurant features a large menu with coastal culinary offerings. When it comes to the appetizers, there are so many delicious choices. We were having trouble selecting just one appetizer to start our dinner, so we ended up ordering two.

We began with The Park House Rolls which were some of the best rolls that I have ever devoured. They came warm and topped with brown butter and herbs. I recommend ordering at least two of these for your family. Along with the rolls, we savored every bite of the chef’s tacos. The carne asada tacos had authentic flavoring and tasted just like the tacos we enjoy while visiting La Paz.

My older son loves salmon, so whenever we dine out, he usually orders the salmon. Since he has food allergies he likes is fish “clean” and not covered with a lot of sauce or toppings – just a perfectly seasoned and grilled piece of fish. That was exactly what he got at Coastal Kitchen. The Scottish Salmon was seared with olive oil, seasoned to perfection and served with steam broccoli.

They have an excellent selection of kids meal options on their menu. My daughter ordered the macaroni and cheese, and my younger son ordered the cheeseburger. My daughter was thrilled when she learned that she had the option of substituting her french fries for a baked potato.

My husband I were both in the mood for steaks, so I had the filet, and my husband had the New York Strip. Just like my sons salmon, our meats were seasoned perfectly and were tender and juicy.

Since we were dining out while on a family staycation, we decided to splurge on dessert. The server presented us with a menu featuring three sweet treats and recommended that we get one of each. Together we shared the smores pie, crème brûlée, and hot fudge sundae. It was the perfect way to end our dining experience at Coastal Kitchen.

Coastal Kitchen quickly became our new favorite restaurant to get high-quality food in a family-friendly environment. When looking for a new place to dine out with your family, I guarantee that you’ll fall in love with Coastal Kitchen just as much as we did. Coastal Kitchen is located at 34091 Pacific Coast Hwy, Dana Point, CA 92629.
