Cruising Down the Coast in a GMC Acadia Denali
When it is a sunny day in Southern California, one of my favorite things to do with my children is to go for a drive down the coast. One morning last week, I surprised my younger son with news that I was going to take him for a drive down the coast to spend the day at Legoland California. Not only were we going to Legoland, but we were also going to attend the debut of the new Lego Star Wars Miniland – he was in pure heaven.
I packed a backpack full of snacks for the day, and we got into our beautiful GMC Acadia Denali, opened the sunroof, and got ready to start driving down to Carlsbad. While loading up the car, I realized that I had forgotten to charge my camera battery the night before. Thankfully, the car had a 120-volt power outlet, and I was able to charge my camera battery while driving to Legoland.
Before starting the drive, we got comfortable in our seats by adjusting the power lumbar and turned on the air conditioned seats. I put on my son’s favorite music from his favorite movie, Moana using the Apple Carplay, and we were set to go.
We cruised down the coast in comfort. We admired the beautiful ocean and wildflowers along the freeway. I felt safe driving with my son on the crowded freeway because of all the safety features in the Acadia. As a mom, we all worry about the safety of our children every time that we get behind the wheel. The Acadia had more safety features than I have ever seen in a car with everything from Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Assist, and more.
While on our drive, we made a stop at one of our favorite spots along the coastline, the viewpoint. My son loves the military, and when we stopped at the viewpoint, he got a chance to watch a Marine helicopter land just steps away from where he was standing – he was in awe. While we were watching the military action, there was a bird that didn’t want to get off our GMC Acadia Denali. Clearly, the bird really liked our car and was refusing to get off and fly away. While we let the bird take its time admiring the beautiful vehicle, we watched people feeding the squirrels. The squirrels were coming right up to the people, and my nature loving little boy was smiling from ear to ear.
After spending some time at the viewpoint, we got back into the car and made the final stretch of the drive to Carlsbad. My little one was getting a little bored with the long drive, and I was able to keep him entertained by connecting his iPad to the 4G LT wi-fi hotspot that is built into the car – every mom’s dream come true.
We arrived at Legoland and had a magical day together. My son went on rides, built legos, and got a chance to see the unveiling of the new Star Wars Miniland. It was a special day that we both will never forget.
After the park had closed, we got into the car and set the navigation to help guide us home. The ride was so smooth that my son drifted off to sleep while I was driving. I put on some soft music that made the perfect ambiance for a sleeping child with the Bose premium audio speakers.
I can’t wait to spend another day driving somewhere special with my younger son. The GMC Acadia Denali made it affordable by providing 20MPG city/highway with 18 in the city and 25 on the highway. If you are thinking about looking for a new and safe family vehicle, the GMC Acadia Denali is a car that will last your family a long time. The car that we drove was priced affordably at $52,185. Test drive an Acadia at your closest GMC dealer.
