Experience the Chevrolet Test Track at Epcot #DisneySMMoms

Earlier this month, our family traveled to Walt Disney World to enjoy the Disney Social Media Moms Conference and extended our trip to make it a full family vacation.  When we visited Walt Disney World in 2012, the Chevrolet Test Track was closed for its redesign.  The kids were so excited to have the chance to experience it this year since it reopened.

We had a chance to sit down with Teckla Rhoads, Director of GM Global Industrial Design at the 2012 LA Auto Show to learn about the design of this attraction.  As a Disney fan, it was fascinating to hear how heavily the GM Design and Walt Disney Imagineering teams collaborated to bring this attraction to life.  Two worlds truly came together to bring a first of its kind automotive experience to fruition for guests and it was exciting to finally see it in real life.

Many ask if the Chevrolet Test Track is a ride?  Yes, it is…but the ride is just one part of it.

The Chevrolet Test Track is an experience.

An experience that allows guests, more importantly the little engineers out there, the chance to be an automotive designer for Chevrolet.  They truly get to create their vision and bring their creation to life.

Our mini “OC Mom Blog Imagineers” went to work designing their custom Chevy concept vehicle; we truly recommend that parents allow children the time to enjoy the experience of the Test Track.  This is not an attraction you should rush through…

think real time Lego building through technology.  As parents, we see our children’s talents and passions bud at an early age.  For many  children, Chevrolet Test Track can be a true “Imagineering” experience.

Somehow we ended up with a girls versus boys design build and then we were off to test their vehicles on the Sim Track.

Parents and children will enjoy the hills and turns, but I have to say that the 65mph straightaway was a favorite for us.

While racing, your vehicle will be scored on power, capability, responsiveness, and efficiency.

Wondering who won the challenge in our girls versus boys Test Track experience?  Pink Girl Power won this time around… 🙂

Have you experienced the Chevrolet Test Track at Epcot?  Do you have any questions about the attraction?

Disclosure: We were invited to the Disney Social Media Moms Conference but the Test Track was not part of the conference experience and we were not asked to write about it. All thoughts are our own; photos are property of OC Mom Blog and may not be used without permission.
