Exploring our own backyard and Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary

My husband and I have always loved taking drives and exploring areas near and not so near us. With gas now so expensive, we are not driving as far or as often. We explore the wonderful canyons we have right in our backyard. We frequent Santiago, Silverado, Modjeska, and Black Star Canyons. There are so many hikes, trails and hidden gems in the canyon. It is the perfect way to expose your kids to nature, wildlife and the beauty just outside of our concrete jungle.

The sanctuary attracts bird watchers of every skill level. Thankfully there weren’t many bird watchers there today, because my children were incredibly loud and I’m sure scared every wild animal in the canyon!

It is not crowded, the staff is mostly volunteers and students from Cal State Fullerton, they run on donations. We always put a few bucks in the can by the gate, because it is such a favorite of ours.
