Exploring Coit Tower in San Francisco

The Coit Tower in San Francisco

It has been a longtime dream of my daughters to visit San Francisco. One of the things on her list to see when in San Francisco is the historic Coit Tower. The tower is a 210-foot tower located in the Telegraph Hill area of San Francisco. Lillie Hitchcock Coit left a part of her estate for beautification of the city, and the money was used to build the tower in 1933.

Finding parking at the Coit Tower in San Francisco

Before checking into the Grand Hyatt San Francisco for the night, we had lunch at Golden Boy Pizza, and then drove over to see Coit Tower. The tower is at the top of the highest point of San Francisco, and it was a little scary driving up the 90 degree angle street to see the tower.

San Francisco view from Coit Tower

The only problem with visiting the tower was that there was no parking within miles, so we just had to see the tower from the street. If visitors are lucky enough to score a parking spot, then there is a small park surrounding the tower where families can explore or having a quaint picnic lunch.

Street leading to the Coit Tower in San Francisco

My husband dropped us off at the corner for a few minutes while he circled the street trying to find a parking spot, and we got some of the most majestic views of the city. I couldn’t get over how large, and beautiful the city of San Francisco is, and couldn’t wait to get back in the car to explore more.

Visiting the Coit Tower in San Francisco

When bringing your family to see the Coit Tower in San Francisco, plan on a quick visit unless you can score a parking spot. I recommend having your husband drop you and the kids off at the corner for a few minutes to see it, before circling back around to pick you up.

View of San Francisco

After visiting the Coit Tower, we headed down by the water to see the Golden Gate Bridge. Coit Tower is located at 1 Telegraph Hill Blvd, San Francisco.
