Five Orange County Rainy Day Activities
I love sitting by the fire sipping on a cup of tea while playing a board game with my children on a rainy day, but with so many rainy days in our forecast, it’s important to get the kids out and staying active. If you want to get your kids out of the house on a rainy day, here are five fun things to do with your children on a rainy day in Orange County.
Take them to an indoor play place
Let your kiddos jump away their energy at an indoor play place. From trampolines to giant slides, each play place is different and a great venue to explore on a rainy day.
Visit a Museum
We are all so lucky to have so many great museums in Orange County. Children can learn about science at Discovery Cube OC or explore art at the Bower’s Museum. If you have toddlers, Pretend City Children’s Museum is the place to go, and for airplane lovers, the Lyon Air Museum won’t disappoint.
Read Books at the Library
My children could spend hours at our local library on a rainy day. We are lucky to have a coffee shop attached to our library (Aliso Viejo) so we can get a snack at the coffee shop before spending time reading books in our library. Often times, local librarians will have a special reading time or activity for children on rainy days.
Your local mall is a great place to take the kids on a rainy day. Most malls in Orange County now have an indoor play area for children to get their energy out. You can have lunch with your kids, walk around the mall and even get a little shopping done.
IKEA isn’t just for shopping, but a great place to take the kids to get out of the house on a rainy day. The have child care so mom can have a little time alone walking around IKEA – which we can all use after being stuck in the house with toddlers. Once your children are done playing in the play area, bring them to the restaurant for lunch, and then home to take a nap.
Enjoy getting out of the house with your kiddos on this rainy day!
