Hipster Dining at Rocker Squaw Valley

We dined as a guest of the venue

Rocker at Squaw

Finding places that serve good food is a necessity when traveling. The one thing that I loved about our summer getaway to Squaw Valley is that there were multiple delicious dining destinations within walking distance of The Village at Squaw Valley Resort including Rocker at Squaw.

After the drive from OC to Squaw Valley, my kids were starving. While they wanted to eat anything within reach, my husband and I were seeking a relaxing restaurant where we could unwind from the long drive.

Rocker was just a short walk from our hotel room, and we loved the hipster decor, so we stopped in for dinner. The restaurant featured a large outdoor patio, wrap around bar and plenty of semi-private booths for families to enjoy an intimate dinner together.

Just minutes after finding our seat, the server came over to help us with our drink order from their extensive cocktail menu. If you’re a beer drinker – then this is the place for you. Their cocktail menu has one of the best beer selections I have seen with many of them being local brews.

The kids got busy coloring their children’s menus while my husband and I took a few minutes to relax and reconnect together. While the kids were busy laughing and sharing their favorite moments from the road trip, we surprised them by ordering their favorite appetizer, nachos. The nachos aren’t like regular nachos but are extreme “Rocker” nachos. The large plate was loaded with chips topped with baked cheddar, cheese sauce, beans, pickled jalapeños, roasted salsa, guacamole, lime sour cream and chicken! Our kid’s eyes opened wide when the nachos were delivered, and they all said, “wooaaahhh!”

When it came time to order our main dish, my husband went right to his “usual” and ordered the Rocker Signature Burger. The mouthwatering burger features 1/2 pound certified black Angus beef, their famous rocker sauce, lettuce, and tomato inside of a brioche bun. Guests have the option of adding two additional toppings of their choice.

Kids pizza

While my two boys ordered off the kiddie menu, the Poulet et Brie was tantalizing my daughter’s taste buds. Brie is her favorite food and when she learned that the brie comes on top of a herb marinated chicken breast topped with apple, bacon, fig jam, and arugula, she couldn’t resist. The sandwich was large enough for two people to share, and she savored every last bite.

Finally, since I am trying to stick with eating a lot of protein, I ordered the skirt steak. Initially, I thought it was going to be the garlic and herb marinated steak with chimichurri sauce that was going to be my favorite part of the dish, but it was the summer succotash that was the highlight. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and seasoned just right.
