Idle Hour Winery Tasting in Yosemite
We visited as a guest of the venue
After driving from Orange County to Yosemite, I was ready to spend the evening relaxing. We checked into our room at Tenaya Lodge and then joined our friends for some small bites and sips of wine from the popular Idle Hour Winery in Oakhurst. While the adults were tasting the different wines crafted by one of the most talented winemakers in the region, Anna Marie dos Remedios, the kids enjoyed cups of warm hot cocoa with mini marshmallows.
Idle Hour Winery is owned and operated by Anna Marie dos Remedios and Deb Payne who started the winery focusing on these traditional methods: native yeast fermentation, gravity flow racking and the use of neutral French Oak. The wines boasted rich flavors, and the tasting was the perfect start to our vacation in Yosemite.
My favorite wine from the tasting was the Tempranillo. It was unlike any other wine that I had tasted before, and I loved how the flavors blended with every sip that I took. Another fabulous wine that Idle Hour makes is their Syrah. It was paired perfectly with the cheese and crackers we were eating while watching the holiday lights twinkle on the beautiful tree in the center of the Tenaya Lodge lobby.
Once we were done with our wine tasting, we went into a beautifully decorated room where we got into the holiday spirit by making gingerbread houses, listened to holiday music and savored a delightful dinner with Santa Claus.
When visiting Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, make plans to go wine tasting at Idle Hour Winery in Oakhurst. The wines are also available for purchase at Parkside Deli inside of Tenaya Lodge.
