Iglesia Park in Aliso Viejo

iglesia-park-aliso-viejo-10

Iglesia Park is a hidden gem of Aliso Viejo. The park is tucked away in a community that offers fun to last throughout the entire day for your family. There is play equipment, bike paths, baseball fields, volleyball courts, handball courts, and more! Since this park is hidden inside of a local community, it is hardly ever crowded.

Large open spaces

This is one of the first parks built in Aliso Viejo, so the landscaping is very mature. There are a lot of trees and benches to sit and relax with your children at this park. There is also an abundance of barbecues and picnic tables for birthday parties.

Play Equipment
The play equipment is quite large and has recently been refurbished. There is a large play structure for the older children, and a smaller one for the younger children. Benches surround the play equipment for parents, and it is filled with wood chips vs. sand. There is a separate swing area and teeter totter inside of the wood chip play area. The play structure is shaded nicely with lush trees surrounding the play equipment.

Amenities
This park has a volleyball court, handball court, tennis courts, soccer field, baseball field and bike path. I would recommend bringing all of your kids favorite sports equipment to this park along with their bikes and scooters. The bike path at this part is one of my kids favorites because of the hills.

Bathroom facilities

Bathrooms
There are bathroom facilities at the neighboring community center (only when they are open). Otherwise, there is a portable bathroom for families to use on the weekend. There is also a drinking fountain just in case you forgot to bring water.

Hiking Trail

Trails
One of the unique things that I discovered at this park was a hidden trail next to the handball courts. Although it looks like it has seen better days and is quite run down, but the kids didn’t notice. The trail is super short and perfect for a toddler’s first hiking trail – plus is comes with a great view.

Parking

Parking
This is the most challenging aspect to this park. Since it is located inside of a community, there is virtually no parking. The park has about 3-4 parking spots, but those are still occupied by the people living in homes across the street. You might have to walk a little bit after finding a parking spot, or get lucky with one close to the park.

  1. It’s amazing how many parks are in Aliso Viejo – why I love living here so much! Our boys love hand-ball, so I’m super excited to share this new park with them.
