Jeffrey Stein Children’s Music Garden at Alta Vista Gardens
The Jeffrey Stein Children’s Music Garden at Alta Vista Gardens is one of the most magical places on earth. While I was coming home from a mother/daughter getaway in San Diego, my daughter had mentioned that she read about this park online, and wanted to visit it. I was so excited that she was researching parks that she wanted to visit so we stopped while on our way home from San Diego. The minute that I stepped out of the car, I was in awe.
It is a park that you’ll want to spend the entire day at with your children. Just like visiting Legoland or the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, you’ll have enough to keep your kids occupied for an entire afternoon at the Alta Vista Gardens – so pack a lunch and get ready to explore.
The park is located in (Vista) which is near Escondido and Carlsbad, just a short drive from Legoland California. Admission is $3 (paid on the honor system), and parking is free.
When we first arrived at the gardens, my daughter began by playing at the Jeffrey Stein Children’s Music Garden. It is a garden created using musical instruments and nature. Your children can put rocks into one of the sculptures to make music, play the drums, and more. I enjoyed sitting on the bench while listening to my daughter make magical music with the different instruments in the park.
The sculptures..the sculptures. Then we went on an adventure exploring the park. There are tons of different paths that bring children to various gardens with unique statues. The plants are themed with the various gardens, and everywhere we turned we saw something different. It took us almost two hours to see everything while walking along the small trails that weave around art sculptures and plants.
Finally, there was my favorite – the butterfly garden. I loved how they made a teepee out of sticks and then have milkweed growing on it to attract the butterflies. My daughter sat in the teepee while butterflies were flying around her. Pure magic. Next to the butterfly garden in giant cement tubes that are in the shape of a snake for toddlers to climb through.
There are lots of places for your family to stop and have lunch. There are tables hidden throughout the gardens where you can sit and eat the lunch you packed while the kids frolic around the gardens.
The Alta Vista Gardens truly brings people together with nature and art. It is a place that will become one of your favorite places to spend time together with your children. Don’t miss planning a day to visit it soon. It is located at 1270 Vale Terrace Dr, Vista, CA 92084. (There are bathrooms and drinking fountains at the park)
