Las Vegas with Kids

This Christmas, instead of celebrating in Orange County we decided to take a road trip to Las Vegas with the whole family! We were testing out the new 2013 Ford Flex and we were excited to try out all the cool features on the way there! I will have a separate post on the Ford later. With a family of 5 we needed something bigger than a standard hotel room so we opted to stay at the Marriott Grand Chateau. The kids loved this place because they give out warm chocolate chip cookies upon your arrival. We had a 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a view of the strip. While not directly on the strip, this hotel is within a 2 minute walk of Planet Hollywood and the Miracle mile shops. It gives you access to everything you need without facing huge crowds every time you walk out the door. Plus there is no casino in the hotel.

After we unpacked we had a quick bite to eat at Earl of Sandwich (you can red my review here) a very family friendly restaurant that serves hot sandwiches and salads. Then we walked around some of the shops and headed over to the Bellagio to watch the fountain show.

The kids were mesmerized by all the neon. We also watched the pirate show at the Excaliber before heading to bed for the night. The next morning we set out on an adventure for the Las Vegas Springs Preserve. This was a great oppurtunity to give the kids a little history lesson while having fun. You can explore the history of Las Vegas through interactive science and nature exhibits, botanical gardens, hiking, trails, and live animal shows. There was even a building that had a Liberace Piano as well as a reconstruction of some ancient Mammoth bones.

That night we ate at a new restaurant called LobsterME. (you can read my review here) A super casual seafood restaurant that specializes in lobster dishes. Then we headed over to the Ethel M chocolate Factory tour and cactus garden. Each year around Christmas time they deck out the cactus garden with thousands of holiday lights. It is a sight to be seen!

On our last day in Vegas we visited the M&M store, ate a fantastic buffet at the Cosmopolitan hotel, and took the kids mini golfing at the new Kiss Monster mini golf. It was glow in the dark and the kids had a blast!

The Kiss Mini Golf also had arcade games and the bathrooms encourage you to write on their walls. They even have cups with sharpie pens in them.

We made some terrific memories and didn’t even get to do half of what we wanted. We can’t wait to go back! Here are a few suggestions of Family friendly ideas for Las Vegas:
