Don’t know how to ski? The New Year is the perfect time to learn how to do something new like learning how to ski. Both Big Bear Mountain and Snow Summit are making it easy for families to come up the mountain to learn how to ski this year by offering free rentals with the purchase of a beginner lesson package.

Start planning your trip today because this offer is only good during the month of January, excluding holidays. This special event is all part of the Learn a Snow Sports Month that is organized by the National Ski Areas Association in an effort to create awareness of American’s favorite winter pastime.

“Now is the perfect time to get acquainted with one of the most fun activities known to man, which of course is skiing and snowboarding,” said Bear Mountain Resort General Manager Brent Tregaskis. “We have one of the best learning environments for snow sports in California. Best of all this month beginners get free rentals with the purchase of a beginner lesson package.”

Big Bear Mountain Resorts is known as Southern California’s learn to ski and ride headquarters.

For the little tykes there is Little Bear Camp and Little Bear School at Snow Summit where kids as young as three and four years old can get started on the bunny slopes. At Bear Mountain there is Riglet Park, where kids from three to six years old are introduced to ride on miniature park features by using Burton’s innovative Learn-to-Ride Technology.

“Kids in the 8-12 age range are the perfect target for learning a new sport. They are at the age where they are more motivated, and have developed better physical abilities,” added Tregaskis

Of course the ski resorts offer adult classes too. The classes are for persons age 13 and older. Some adults that have skied before, but now want to want to learn how to snowboard can do so through the adult lessons. Big Bear’s qualified instructors will show anyone who wants to learn the ropes of having fun on the slopes. One of the great things about learning a new snow sport is it is never too late to learn.

“This is one winter activity where you can teach an old dog a new trick!” said Tregaskis. “We’ve taught people in their seventies how to ski for the first time.”

Big Bear Mountain Resorts invites all beginners to come up and have a good time in the snow during the month of January. FREE rentals are available for anyone who purchases a beginner lesson package, which is valid any day during the month of January, excluding holiday periods. It must be reserved at least one day in advance online at www.bigbearmountainresorts.com or phone reservations at 909-866-5841.
