Lighthouse Park in Newport Beach
One of the coolest new parks in Orange County also has one of the most epic ocean views right in the heart of the Peninsula in Newport Beach. Lighthouse Park (aka Marina Park) has one epic slide, sits right on the seaside and offers climbing galore.
The minute that my kids spotted the park from the street, they were in awe. They could barely contain the excitement while found a parking spot. Parking for this park will be a challenge on the weekends (especially in the summer). There is a small parking lot, plenty of street parking, and a strip of parking spots along the water. I recommend bringing your bikes, finding parking further down the peninsula, and riding your bikes to the park on a busy summer afternoon.
The park is unforgettable! There is a giant lighthouse that kids can climb before flying down the long red tube slide. There are two large climbing obstacle courses, a mini wooden dock, and sand for little ones to use their sand toys.
The park does have multiple picnic tables (perfect for birthday parties) that you can reserve by calling the city (see the image for more details). There are benches and a decent amount of shade. There are even nice clean bathrooms, drinking fountain, and sprayer to clean your kiddos feet before heading home.
How could we forget? There is also a basketball court, and a workout station for parents to get their workout done while the kids play.
Once your children are done, bring them down to the seaside to dip their toes into the water, collect seashells or just run along the shore. Lighthouse Park is located at 1600 W. Balboa Blvd. Newport Beach, CA 92663.
