Linda Lane Beach in San Clemente
Linda Lane Beach in San Clemente may be one of the perfect – if not the perfect – kid beach in Orange County. With it’s sandy bottom, outside break, and long shoreline, it is a great place for young kids to play in the water as well as older kids to boogie board (all with supervision, of course). Add to that it’s relatively close parking and stroller accessibility and it’s a beach-going Mama’s dream come true.
It’s adventure waiting to happen, I tell you, all within a toddler’s walk from the car. Hooray!
Parking is readily accessible, although it does fill up quickly on busier summer days.
Meters, which accept cash or credit card, are available in the parking lot.
Once parked, it’s a short, albeit steep, walk down a ramp to a tunnel under the railroad tracks that leads directly to the sand. Alternatively, there is a winding pathway that runs to the right that leads to the same beach access. This would likely be the wiser route if dealing with a heavy stroller or wagon.
Once on the sand, there are sweeping views of the lengthy coastline North to Dana Point and South to the San Clemente pier.
The entrance into the water is sandy and gradual. Waves break outside so it is good for younger or less experienced swimmers. Another bonus of this beach is that unlike some other easily accessible beaches in Orange County, it’s not located close to any major run offs, so generally speaking the water quality is usually good.
Like most San Clemente beaches, Linda Lane is located right along side the railroad tracks, so kids will be thrilled by the passing of the trains every so often.
Miscellaneous considerations regarding Linda Lane:
- The shoreline is not particularly deep, so if tides are high, the sand can be sparse. Depending on tides, the sand can also be rocky in parts, as pictured here.
- Closest restrooms are a short walk South down the beach to just North of the pier.
- There is easy access to San Clemente Beach Trail right before you go under the railroad tracks.
- Linda Lane Park, which shares the metered parking lot with the beach, is a close walk if anyone needs a break from the sand and surf, although, frankly, we doubt that will happen.
Enjoy this family friendly beach in San Clemente!
