It is the most magical time of the year to bring your family to the Disneyland Resort to witness the return of the iconic Main Street Electrical Parade. Watching the Main Street Electrical Parade in Disneyland was one of my favorite childhood memories, and now I get to share the same memories with my children at the Happiest Place on Earth.
The parade debuted for the last time in Disneyland in November of 1996 and had traveled to Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and more before returning to Disneyland Park last night for a limited-time. The parade has performed more than 3,600 times for more than 75 million guests during its original run in Disneyland Park, and now more families have an opportunity to experience the magic with its return home.
When I attended the premiere of the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade, I got to relive the magic with my older son. There was rain expected in the forecast the night of the premiere, but the Disney magic shined bright and kept the storm clouds away just in time for the parade to premiere before hundreds of Disney fans. A tear rolled down my cheek as I watched my son dance to the classic song, “Baroque Hoedown,” just like I did as a child. He was in awe of the massive 5,600 Elliot float that had steam coming from his nostrils, and he giggled with delight when watching the eight insects from “Alice in Wonderland” spin and dance along the parade route.
Following the premiere of the parade, my son kissed me on my cheek and thanked me for sharing this special part of my childhood with him.
The parade will light up the night in Disneyland nightly for a limited time. Don’t miss creating magical memories with your children as you watch the 22 floats sparkle down Main Street, U.S.A. There are reserved viewing areas and dining packages available for guests visiting Disneyland. Learn more about the special packages online at Disneyland.com.
