Majestic Mirror Lake Trail at Yosemite National Park

Mirror Lake Yosemite National Park

Our last stop when exploring the Yosemite National Park was to Mirror Lake. It was getting late, and we needed to get back to the car to head back to the Tenaya Lodge, but I couldn’t leave the National Park without seeing this lake that I have heard so much about over the years.

Hiking Trail to Mirror Lake

Snow Falling at Mirror Lake

We had parked in Curry Village and took the complimentary shuttle that took us to the start of the Mirror Lake Trail. The trail was paved and wide, so we didn’t feel crowded at all. There were restrooms located at the beginning of the trail, 1/2 and the lake. If you are bringing small children, there are plenty of places for them to stop. The trail took about 45 minutes one way to reach the opening of the lake. The trail does continue after first reaching the lake, but since we were traveling with small children, we stopped at the base of half dome.

When we first spotted the lake, we were in awe. The beauty overwhelmed us. The lake was smooth as glass and has the base of half dome as the backdrop. There are bathrooms when you first reach the lake and lots of places to explore with your children.

Barone Family in Yosemite

We walked partially around the lake before it started to snow. Once it began to snow, my kids laid their heads in the snow and caught snowflakes on the tip of their tongues. My older boys were collecting long sticks for the hike back to the shuttle while my daughter sat on the edge of the lake and just simply admired the beauty with us.

Once the sunlight had disappeared, we walked back to the shuttle and then drove through the park to the lodge. Mirror Lake is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Mirror Lake is located just a short distance away from Curry Village. When visiting the Yosemite National Park with your family, don’t miss witnessing this natural wonder.
