When I found out that the Mariinsky Ballet was coming to Orange County to perform Raymonda, I couldn’t wait to bring my daughter to see the performance. The Mariinsky Ballet is without a doubt one of the leading ballet companies in the world, and I was delighted to find out that they were performing at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

The music, the artistry, and the costumes told an enchanting love story. It was a performance that will live forever in the hearts of those who had the honor of watching. The Mariinsky Ballet that is well-known for their elaborate costumery, but it was the music in this performance that brought out such a strong emotion in the audience. I couldn’t help but fight back a tear from rolling down my cheek, and I saw twinkles of emotion sparkling in the eyes of my daughter. It was the first time that my daughter attended a ballet other than the Nutcracker, and I wasn’t sure how she was going to react. During the performance she laid her head on my shoulder, and whispered in my ear, “This is the most beautiful ballet I’ve ever seen.” My heart melted.

Raymonda rarely is seen in its entirety, but for a limited-time, guests are invited to experience the eloquence of the Mariinsky Ballet at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. It is a perfect show to introduce aspiring young ballerinas too and makes for a wonderful Mother/Daughter evening out together. (For younger audiences, I recommend the Saturday or Sunday afternoon performance)
