Moss Landing Wildlife Area

While on our way to the Monterey Aquarium, we stumbled upon the Moss Landing Wildlife Area. Moss Landing ended up being one of our kids favorite stops for the day where they were able to see a plethora of beautiful birds and sea life.
When we first entered the area, we stopped by a small bridge where we could watch all the animals living in the wildlife area. We could have spent hours watching the birds flying around, but another family advised us to keep going into the park where we could see harbor seals. We found a parking spot in the small parking lot and walked over to the harbor seal viewing area. We were so close to the beautiful creatures, and we watched them for almost an hour living in their natural environment.
I recommend coming to Moss Landing and spending the day. There are kayak rentals nearby where your family can kayak around the harbor seal area (but no touching allowed). There is also a beach entrance at Moss Landing where families can have a beach day. Moss Landing is much more than a wildlife area but a place where families can spend the day together creating memories together while in the Monterey/Santa Cruz area.
Moss Landing Wildlife Area is located adjacent to the north bank of Elkhorn Slough, 1-1/4 miles north of the town of Moss Landing on Hwy 1. Admission to the area is free (parking is metered).
