Mother’s Day at Mimi’s Cafe

We dined as a guest of the venue

There are so many choices when it comes to dining out on Mother’s Day. This year, we celebrated Mother’s Day a little early by having a three-course meal at our local Mimi’s Cafe.

I first fell in love with Mimi’s Cafe at a young age when my grandparents would take me out for dinner at Mimi’s to celebrate special occasions. As the years have passed, and my grandparents are no longer here to celebrate with me, it makes me feel closer to them by bringing my family to dine at their favorite restaurant. It makes my heart happy to know that I created so many special memories at Mimi’s Cafe, and I now get to create new memories with my children at this special dining destination.

For Mother’s Day, Mimi’s Cafe is offering a delicious three-course menu starting at 11 am for $18.99 per person. They will also have select brunch items until 1 pm, and $5 mimosas for mom.

The starter options include your choice of a house salad, caesar salad or cup of soup. The soup options are French onion, corn chowder or tomato basil. I ordered the caesar salad that was fresh, crisp and had the perfect amount of dressing. The salad was large enough for me to share with my younger son who was ordering off the children’s menu.

While I had the salad, my husband and daughter ordered the soups. My husband had the tomato basil soup that was light (not rich like one might think) and boasted bold flavors. The corn chowder soup was what my daughter enjoyed, and it was thick, rich, and everything she wanted from a cup of soup on a cold evening.

For the main course, there are six choices; Chicken Chop Salad, Quiche Lorraine, Chicken Tillamook Cheddar Mac, Shrimp Brochette Skewers, Mushroom Brie Burger, and Slow Roasted Turkey dinner. All of the choices looked delicious, and it was hard to select just one main course for dinner.

Since I am trying to eat light, I ordered the Shrimp Brochette Skewers. The dish featured ten fire-grilled shrimp with a classic salt and pepper rub. The shrimp came on top of a bed of fresh lettuce and paired with rich baked cheesy gratin potatoes. The dish was light (with the exception of the potatoes) and delicious.

My husband always loves the burgers at Mimi’s, and he was excited to try their Mushroom Brie Burger. The burger was served on a toasted sourdough bun and topped with sautéed whole cap mushrooms, caramelized onions, and melted brie. I had one bite of his burger, and the flavors tantalized my taste buds. If you like burgers, you’re going to fall in love with this burger at Mimi’s.

Since we only get to enjoy a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving or at Mimi’s, my daughter ordered the Slow Roasted Turkey dinner. The dish featured hand-carved turkey with mashed potatoes, gravy, cornbread dressing, fresh vegetables and an orange-apple cranberry relish. Every bite of her dish brought back magical Thanksgiving memories.

There are two choices for dessert, so we decided to get one of each to share. We started with the Chocolate Chip Croissant Bread Pudding. The dessert is a little taste of heaven and features all-butter and almond croissant with chocolate chips, caramel sauce, and whipped cream – oh my!

Then there was the seasonal muffin sundae that came with a muffin topped with ice cream, sauce, and whipped cream. This dessert was my youngest son’s favorite for the evening.

Mimi’s Cafe is the perfect place for your family to come together to celebrate Mother’s Day. Reservations are highly recommended, but they will also do their best to accommodate walk-ins. Find your closest Mimi’s Cafe online. Happy Mother’s Day!
