Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad
We visited as a guest of the venue
I love bringing my children to museums wherever we travel. Every time that we go to Legoland, I always see the sign directing towards the Museum of Making Music, and I finally made plans to visit this hidden gem in Carlsbad.
My children love music. My two older children have self-taught themselves to play the guitar and the piano. They are gifted with music, and I knew they would be thrilled to visit this unique museum.
The museum is located in a series of office buildings, and people could easily drive right past it without ever knowing that it was there. We parked the car and walked into the museum where we would learn all about the history of music.
At the entrance of the museum is a small gift shop where visitors can purchase a music-themed souvenir to bring home. We bought our tickets and then began an enriching educational experience exploring the museum.
There were multiple volunteers located throughout the music who took their time to talk to our children about the different instruments on display. We learned so much about different instruments and the history behind the different kinds of music. My kids favorite part was the interactive part of each exhibit where children are invited to test out different instruments from a different era – with the gong being a big hit with my kids.
It took us almost two hours to go through the entire museum, so I encourage parents to allow plenty of time for your children to learn and fall in love with the arts. At the end of the museum, there is a large interactive music room. There are drums, guitars, synthesizers and more for children to enjoy playing. My kids could have spent all day in the room testing out the different instruments, and we stayed right until they closed for the day.
When planning a trip to Carlsbad with your family, make plans to visit the Museum of Making Music. It is the perfect day trip adventure for your family, and your kids are going to love every minute of it.
