New Years Eve Bash at Habana in Costa Mesa
We dined as a guest of the venue
We were excited to find out that Habana in Costa Mesa created a great New Years Eve bash to ring 2017! “The End of Embargo” will usher in this New Year here at Habana with a classy, fun, beautiful environment feeling as if you decided to visit Cuba this year. Good news, you can do this locally in Costa Mesa.
On a recent rainy evening, we walked through the door at Habana with a lovely, warm welcome as if we were visiting good friends. The inviting red glow around the bar area was full of smiling faces with a low whisper of conversation. We noticed intimate spaces in the restaurant both inside and out under the tree tops. The restaurant felt so inviting, but because of the taps of rain coming down, it meant that we would opt for a cozy booth.
A wonderful pre-fixe dinner is planned on New Years with a menu created for those wishing to celebrate at Habana. You will find a fabulous array of appetizers, entrees, and desserts not usually found on the menu. We hope you’re ready because when we begin sharing with you this menu, you will need to reserve you seating right away.
How about a little appetizer of Tomatillo and Mint Salsa with Plantains to get the evening started? Dip that plantain into the salsa to experience the tart yet subtle heat, and you will not stop at one.
Appetizers of Tostone Cargado and La Palmita are a perfect choice for a light salad or seafood. The Tostone Cargado is a refreshing Mariscos, topped with a Cucumber Relish, Chile Serrano atop a Mango Enchilado. Oh my, loved! The La Palmita with Hearts of Palm and Citrus across a bed of lettuce was tossed with a Mojito Emulsion; it was salty, tangy and light.
You’ll find several choices for dinner entrées; our favorite was the Hacha De Lechon. A gorgeous chop seared to perfection with baby Heirloom Tomatoes, a Watermelon Radish, and Avocado. The Gorgeous presentation that had our mouths watering before even tasting it.
A few other choices are the Arroz Con Pollo; a perfectly Fried Chicken accompanied with Saffron Rice, Heirloom Carrots and Peas. The chicken was moist, tender and incredibly flavorful! Seafood lovers will be happy with the Regaldo Del Mar; generous pieces of Alaskan Halibut with Flor de Calabaza also known as squash blossoms. A lovely presentation!
We highly recommend you indulge in dessert this night! You will find the most incredible combination of flavors in the Pastellito de Guava!! We haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. You get dessert and a work of art; it’s gorgeous. Imagine for a moment, a luscious Mascarpone with a hint of Guava, a cascade of Tropical Caviar and a Dried Blood Orange. It’s delicate, not too sweet, tropical, light; and the perfect dessert!
In addition to indulging in a decadent dinner; you can enjoy Live Music, Rum Tastings, and Cigar Rolling to prepare for the balloon drop and ringing in the New Year. So fun!
If you’re looking to try something new this year, consider a night at Habana as you step into the New Year of 2017!
