Oceanfront Dining at The Lighthouse Cafe
We dined as a guest of the venue
After a busy day on the road, we popped into the Lighthouse Cafe in Newport Beach to help in celebrating the restaurant’s one year anniversary. If you haven’t been to the bright, airy and relaxing waterfront restaurant; make a plan to go soon. You’ll enjoy the architecture of the Lighthouse Cafe with large windows overlooking the harbor, a modern rotating chandelier overhead and seating around the perimeter; offering a great view from each table. Seriously, there isn’t a bad view in the house.
We enjoyed some delicious menu items prepared on this evening, by Chef Ryan Sumner. A few favorites he shared with us were a mouth watering Short Rib that will melt in your mouth accompanied by a Grilled Mushroom; you’ll find this dish to be comforting and full of flavor. For the seafood lover’s, there is a gorgeous, tender Pan Seared Scallop with Sweet Corn Relish and Baby Zucchini; this is the perfect mix of sweet and savory.
Don’t forget to try a Spicy Bloody Mary with all the fixings or a Bikinitini; a special blend of Peach, Orange Juice, and Champagne. Both Specialty Cocktails are delicious, and that Spicy Bloody Mary is a little meal in itself; or perhaps a nice appetizer.
You might consider stopping by for a Weekday Happy Hour from 3 pm – 6 pm as they have an outstanding White Fish Street Taco at $4.95. This spoke to the taco lovers in us; full of perfectly cooked fish and a cilantro mayo sauce which is off the charts!
If you feel a sweet tooth coming on you’re sure to be content and happy with an order of Warm Beignets, dusted with Cinnamon Sugar and a Drizzled Cream Cheese Icing. Honestly, they are so good; we wanted to place an order to go with coffee in the morning! Our second favorite dish was the Pecan Banana Bread Pudding with Salted Camel and a Banana Brulee.
A little hint; they have an upstairs area that is available for renting for parties and maybe even the Boat Parade if you want to throw a party with your friends. It’s a cool venue that serves up Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner and they even have a great Weekend Brunch! We found that the quality and entree choices were very surprising for what we thought to be a cafe and we are so looking forward to visiting again for Dinner and a Weekend Brunch!
Lighthouse Cafe is a beautiful little gem on the water, and you’re in for a treat when you visit! www.lighthousenb.com.
