Restaurante Gran Teocalli
We dined as a guest
After spending the day exploring Teotihuacán, everyone in our group had worked up quite an appetite. We had heard a lot about the popular dining destination, Restaurante Gran Teocalli, so we decided to stop for lunch before heading back to Mexico City.
The minute that our bus arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by their friendly staff who were all dressed-up in traditional tribal outfits. They were playing music and dancing as we entered the restaurant for lunch.
Once we were inside the restaurant, we were seated at a comfortable table and given a tour of the massive buffet. My favorite part of the buffet was the quesadilla bar where we could customize mini quesadillas just the way that we wanted. They were so delicious that I couldn’t help but go back for seconds.
The thing that is unique about the buffet at Gran Teocalli is that they not only had traditional Mexican food, but they also featured a lot of international dishes. I noticed that there were a lot of people dining in the restaurant from different parts of the world, and there was something for everyone to enjoy at the buffet.
In the middle of our lunch, the staff put on an entertaining performance in the center of the restaurant. Everyone got out of their seats and turned on their cameras to capture photos and videos of the interactive stage show.
Then it was time for the best part – dessert. There were so many delicious choices that I had to try a little bite of everything. I devoured every last crumb of the desserts and was still craving more.
Gran Teocalli is a great place for families to stop and have lunch after exploring Teotihuacán. The restaurant opens up to a large grass area complete with a play structure to keep the kids entertained while mom and dad finish eating.
Before leaving, the staff posed for pictures so we could bring a memorable photo home as a keepsake from our time dining at this fun and interactive restaurant. Restaurante Gran Teocalli is located at Autopista México Pirámides Kilómetro 21.5, San Juan de Arista, 55800 San Juan Teotihuacan de Arista, Méx., Mexico.
