Romance on the Water with Hornblower Cruises
We visited as a guest of the venue
The best gift that parents can give their children is the gift of having parents with a healthy marriage. The one thing that I have found to be key in keeping the spark alive in my marriage of almost 20 years is to spend as much time together alone as possible. We go on date nights at least a couple of times a month and try our best to have romantic getaways whenever we can. With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, our children’s busy schedule has us booked driving them around town on Valentine’s Day, so we celebrated earlier this year by having a romantic morning enjoying brunch on the water while on a Hornblower Cruise.
We had always wanted to do a dinner or brunch Hornblower Cruise, and this year seemed like the perfect year to experience it together for the first time. We hired a sitter for the kids and left to spend the afternoon relaxing and reconnecting while floating along Newport Harbor. We arrived at the Hornblower dock where the staff took a keepsake photo of us before welcoming us on the boat. Once on board the boat, we were handed a glass of champagne and escorted to our private table overlooking the water.
The captain rang the bell and began to take off to sea. My husband and I enjoyed every minute of our time together catching up on all the things we don’t get to talk about because we are so busy caring for our children. We toasted our champagne glasses to a wonderful day together, and all the stresses of our daily life drifted away.
Guests were invited down to the bottom level of the boat where a beautiful buffet was awaiting us. There was a carving station, eggs benedict, fresh fruit, shrimp, and more. There was a wide variety of culinary offering so that there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Once we were done savoring every bite of our brunch while listening to relaxing jazz music, we retreated to the top deck where we basked in the beautiful views of the crystalline waters. We sipped on champagne and ate chocolate covered strawberries while falling in love with each other all over again. It was an unforgettable day that we spent together, and when returning home to our children, we felt refresh, recharged, and ready to take on the challenges of every day parenting.
If it’s been awhile since you’ve had a romantic date night with your spouse, now is the time to plan one. Hornblower is the perfect venue to rekindle your love for one another and will be a dining experience that you’ll never forget. Hornblower has weekly dinner and champagne brunch cruises. Reservations are available online.
