Taste of Aloha at Island’s Restaurant
We dined as a guest
Island’s is one of our go-to family restaurants. They always have something for everyone in the family to enjoy, provides a relaxing dining environment, and the service is always impeccable. Some of our favorite dishes to enjoy at Island’s Restaurant features sweet pineapple. While savoring a delicious dish with pineapples, it always makes us reminisce about our favorite Hawaiian memories.
Did you know that Island’s uses 182,000 fresh pineapples per year? That is a lot of pineapples, and something worth celebrating! In celebration of pineapple season, Island’s has launched a tasty pineapple pairing menu that matches their pineapple menu items with the perfect tropical drink.
When our family heard about the new pairing menu, we made plans to have dinner together at our local Island’s Restaurant. Shortly after being seated at our table, the server brought over a coloring sheet so our children could participate in their coloring contest. They had fun coloring the worksheet, and then I snapped a picture to enter them into the contest. The coloring contest is happening until the end of May. To enter, kids simply design and decorate the pineapple coloring sheets, and parents or legal guardians post the colorful creations to social media using #PineappleParadise and #IslandsBurgers for a chance to win $50 to Islands. Ten lucky winners will be selected.
My daughter has always been a fan of the chicken sandwiches at Island’s, so she ordered the Toucan Sandwich to mix things up a bit. She loved how the pineapple made the chicken sandwich juicer that she has experienced before and loved the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce. For adults, the sandwich is paired to perfection with the Longboarder Lager.
There is one thing that my husband always orders at Island’s, and that is a hamburger. He is a longtime fan of the Longboarder (with swiss), and on this night he experienced the Hawaiian Burger for the first time. The burger featured pineapple, teriyaki sauce, lettuce, and tomato. The burger was paired with a Big Island Ice Tea that was the perfect addition to his dinner.
Since everyone was trying something new, and the Baja tacos that I once loved are no longer on the menu, I also tried something new. I have never had one of their bowls before, so I ordered the Hoisin Bowl with a Mai Tai. The bowl and the cocktail are just what every mom needs after a long day taking care of the kids. The bowl was light, fresh, and delicious.
