Tween Volunteer Vacation Experience with the Sandals Foundation

My mom attended the Beaches Social Media on the Sand Conference

When I was at Beaches Turks and Caicos, I really wanted to volunteer my time with the Sandals Foundation. Along with a group of teens, I went to a local school that the Sandals Foundation sponsored and painted a classroom. It was amazing! I felt so good that we could help kids that are less fortunate than us feel comfortable in their classroom. I was so happy that I was giving back to the community while on my family vacation.

It touched my heart that I was helping local kids that I had seen walking along the side of the road while exploring the island. I love helping people, and this was my ultimate vacation experience. I love thinking about how happy the kids will feel once they realized they have a fresh new classroom.

We started off the day by boarding a bus and driving to the local school. When we got off, we were greeted by the school principal and other Sandals Foundation volunteers. They walked us through how to do a good painting job and we all got to work painting the walls. The school principal was walking around and looked so happy. The Sandals Foundation volunteers were walking around and helping us paint.

I made life-long memories with the other kids who were volunteering while on their vacation. We all bonded while painting the walls of the classroom. While I was painting with my friends, my brother was having a blast with his friends. He managed to get all of his friends Instagram and emails so they can connect once returning home.

When we were all done, we had some snacks and drinks and boarded the vans to head back to the Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort. When we got back, we all saw each other at the water park and played together.

All in all the Sandals Foundation Island Impact was my favorite part of my trip. I can’t wait to go on another trip to a Beaches Resort so that I can volunteer my time again on our next family vacation. I encourage you to please help the Sandals Foundation continue to help children in the Caribbean by making a donation to their organization. Even just a dollar can put a pencil into the hands of a child without one, and help them to be successful in school.
