14 Things You Need to Know About Avengers: Age of Ultron

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney

The wait is almost over, and the time has finally come to see what happens next for the Avengers in the film Avengers: Age of Ultron. The film is one of the best Marvel films yet providing action-packed entertainment for children and adults of all ages. Earlier this month, we took some time to talk with the cast of the highly-anticipated film, and these are some things you need to know about Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Maria Hill. We all know that she is the force holding the Avengers together, and you’ll get to see a whole new side of her in the upcoming film. How does she work without S.H.I.E.L.D? You’ll have to find out when seeing the film in theaters this Friday.

“It’s the greatest ensemble ever assembled in cinematic history,” said Kevin Feige – and he is right. There were high expectations from Marvel fans when it came to making this movie, and it’s going to be bigger and better than Marvel fans could have ever expected.

Curious about how Josh Whedon even begins to make an epic Marvel film? When it comes to making these films, he begins by asking himself, “what little moments are there between these characters that I haven’t gotten to do yet? What conversations have they not had? What haven’t I shown?”

The Marvel cast has grown in this new film including the debut of Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. “It was kind of intimidating joining this group,” said Olsen, but it was made easier for her doing it with Aaron by her side having worked with him before in the film “Godzilla.”

If you ever find yourself with an entire Marvel cast (you never know), but if it happens then make sure and always ask the first question to Robert Downey Jr. – or he might walk out.

It was easier than most would think for James Spader to bring a giant robot to life. “I arrived in London, and within the first half hour they put on a suit, they put on all this gear, and I’d gone through a range of motion. Then within 15 minutes, I was watching myself walk around a big room, moving and doing this and that and everything else, and watching Ultron, or at least a formative stage of Ultron, on a monitor in front of me. And it just – it started right there,” said Spader.

Chris Hemsworth, who portrays Thor in the film had a favorite superhero growing up – Superman. “Superman was probably the only film they’d made, I think, back when I was growing up,” said Hemsworth.

Comic books were an inspiration for James Spader when bringing his character to life, but growing up Spader didn’t have any comic books. It was his friend Will Brottis who had a trunk full of them. “Comic books were like candy for me. I’d go over to his house for a sleepover, and I would be really just devouring everything I could get my hands on,” said Spader.

Hulk and Hawkeye fans are in for a treat with this film. Kevin Feige said, “Josh very much liked the idea, and we honed in on that for him, that Hulk and Hawkeye would be two characters that hadn’t gotten much exposure in between the movies, ‘cause he said he had very big plans for the two of those characters in this one.”

When it comes to Black Widow…is she going to crack under pressure in this film? “I guess we’ll have to wait and see, right?” said Johansson.

Johansson had some killer “badass” action scenes in this film, and what many viewers would not realize is that she was pregnant when making the film. “I don’t think you’re allowed to ride a motorcycle when you’re still pregnant. But I did. I did all of the motorcycle riding. I embarrassingly rode some sort of mechanical bull type of motorcycle, which goes nowhere and doesn’t look cool at all. But we had some very professional and amazing motocross work being done that makes Black Widow look like a total badass. I will say that I’m very fortunate that there’s a team around me that is super-supportive in helping all of Widow’s fight moves and badass motorcycle riding happen,” said Johansson.

We get to see a lot more of Dr. Banner in Hulk in this film, and Mark Ruffalo helped to make this possible. “I was helped out by the fact that I’m green, and huge, to help me with the distinction between the two characters. I can’t take full credit for that, except for the accent that I was using,” said Ruffalo.

Have you always wondered why the armor designed to contain the Hulk is called Veronica? Joss Whedon shared this Marvel secret by saying, ” I just decided to call it Veronica because I used to be in love with a woman named Betty, and Veronica is the opposite of that.”

Finally. We know you’re all wondering if there will be a sneak peek of what’s next for Marvel at the end of the film? You’ll have to go see the movie in theaters this Friday to find out.
