2014 Orange County Holiday Tree Lighting Events

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and your family is invited to kick-off the holiday season at one of these delightful Orange County tree lighting events.


Irvine Spectrum Center

When it comes to celebrating the season, there’s nothing like the Holidays at Disneyland® Resort and for the second consecutive year, the Happiest Place on Earth is bringing a little Disney magic to Irvine Spectrum Center. Beginning November 28, the holidays will shine brighter with a fun and unique music and lighting moment each evening throughout the holiday season. The Edwards Courtyard will come to life with a special tribute to the magical holiday shows of the Disneyland® Resort. The merriment kicks off at midnight on Friday, November 28, 2014. Families can enjoy the holiday music and light displays on the hour every hour from 5:30 p.m. to closing through January 4, 2015.


Kaleidoscope Center

Kaleidoscope Center in Mission Viejo will ring in the holidays with its 4th annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 5 at 6 p.m. Kaleidoscope’s center courtyard will be transformed into a theater in the round with South Coast Freestyle Dance Training Center and the St. Kilian Choir performing a holiday program from 6 to 8 pm. Nearly 75 dancers will entertain the crowd with A Candyland Christmas, a mix of classic and upbeat holiday music. A beautiful 22 ft. fresh noble fir will be lit by Santa Claus. Following the program, Santa will be available for complimentary photos with visitors’ own cameras.

Friday also kicks off a Giving Tree being hosted by Kaleidoscope, where the community can choose to make a donation to Make-A-Wish of Orange County and Inland Empire. The special tree is on display now through Christmas Eve and will help raise money to grant wishes of children who have life threatening illnesses.

Tips for Fashion Island Tree Lighting:

Arrive early – Guests arrive as early as 11 a.m. to stake out their seats on the Bloomingdale’s/ Neiman Marcus court lawn. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets to reserve their spots.
Be sure to dress warmly and comfortably for the cooler evening temps. There is even a chance of “snow” in the forecast!
10,000 guests are expected to arrive for the Tree Lighting each night; another note to arrive early for parking.
The show will last 20 minutes and starts promptly at 6 p.m.
Courtesy trams and shuttles will be operating throughout the evening to take guests to their parking spots.


Newport Dunes Lighting of the Bay

4 p.m. ​– Live music ​with OC Song & Dance and a “Choir Off” between Corona del Mar High and Newport Harbor High Schools.

​6 pm — Santa rides in on a paddleboard to flip the​ s​​​​witch​ lighting the bay, ​followed by the presentation of the motion picture, “Polar Express” that will be shown on the beach.
​**​Guests will enjoy free s’mores, popcorn and hot chocolate while an adult “Christmas Cheer” area has been designated for those seeking to enjoy specialty cocktails and other holiday spirits.

Bring family, friends and especially the children for a complimentary evening of joyous festivities. Watch as our giant Christmas tree and the Resort come to life with thousands of twinkling lights and holiday decor amidst a live musical performance of holiday harmonies. Indulge in holiday cookie and hot beverages while an annual visit from Santa Claus delights one and all. Reservation not required. Guests are asked to graciously donate a new, unwrapped gift for the Toys for Tots Program.


18th Annual Crystal Cove Tree Lighting & Gift Bazaar

The annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony, along with the weekend Holiday Bazaar, pays homage to Crystal Cove’s rich history with retro holiday décor and a unique spin on a fun family tradition on December 6, 2014 from 9am-5:30pm. The event is complimentary and open to the general public. At sunset, the Cove’s picturesque beach will be illuminated by twinkling lights and decorative ornaments on a statuesque evergreen. In addition to the tree lighting, the Crystal Cove historic district’s seaside cottages will be transformed into a seasonal display of holiday lights, vintage decorations and giant candy canes. There will be over 20 nationally known plein air artists, local artisans with handcrafted jewelry and ceramics.

Guests and locals are invited to visit The St. Regis Monarch Beach for this year’s Tree Lighting and Sand Sculpture Dedication. Featuring NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson, festive treats, visits with Santa Claus, holiday carolers and hot cocoa and cider.

Photos with Santa begin at 3:30 p.m. and the Sand Sculpture Dedication and Tree Lighting Ceremony at 4:30 p.m.

The Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) invites you to kick-off the holiday season with song and dance! Enjoy a free performance by Unplugged and MONTAGE!, OCSA’s premier performing group, at the South Coast Plaza Tree Lighting Ceremony. General and lawn seating for the Tree Lighting Ceremony are available to the public at no cost on a limited first-come, first-serve basis.
