2016 American Girl of the Year – Lea Clark

American Girl Doll of the Year 2016In the last weeks of 2015, there was a buzz on social media about the 2016 American Girl of the Year.  American Girl slowly released clues about her story, and there was all sorts of speculation among fans over what she would look like and details about her life. At long last, on January 1st, Lea Clark, 2016 Girl of the Year, graced stores across America and online, and people were finally able to get their hands on her and her three-book series.

Lea is an adventurous girl who is interested in photography and traveling the world, and has a deep love for animals.  Her adventures take her and her close-knit family to Brazil where she explores the culture, beaches and rainforest, as well as what true courage looks like.

Explore with Lea

We were fortunate enough to be introduced to Lea on New Year’s Eve this year.  We always do a fancy NYE family dinner, and this year when our girls – who are very into all things American Girl and had been talking about the upcoming Girl of the Year for weeks – came downstairs for the evening, they found everything they needed to ring in a wonderful New Year!

Celebrating the launch of the 2016 American Girl Doll

They were ecstatic, just as they’d been over every American Girl they’ve ever received.  But having Lea, the 2016 Girl of the Year, join them to ring in the 2016 New Year made it just that much more special!

Girls Playing with American Girl Leah Clark

We are big fans of American Girl around here. We appreciate the quality, timeless products they produce, which can be handed down from generation to generation, but more than that, the culture the company promotes. From the back of Lea Dives In:

American Girl celebrates a girl’s inner star – that little whisper inside that encourages her to stand tall, reach high, and dream big. We take pride and care in helping girls become their very best today, so they’ll grow up to be the women who make a difference tomorrow.

From the stories in their books (our very favorite way to learn about history), to lunch at The Cafe in the store, to time spent together crafting outfits for the dolls, American Girl puts at the forefront the values that I want my girls to hold in high regard.
