3 Ways To Be Less Dependent On Status Symbols

When we see someone with a status symbol, we know right away that they are doing well. Whoever owns the car, watch, clothes, jewelry, etc., is obviously wealthy and successful and likes to brag about it.

In fact, there is nothing wrong with this. If someone wants to show off their wealth by buying things that show they are doing well, that’s their choice, and if it makes them happy, they should do it.

What if you’re not happy with it, though? What if you spend money on things you think will impress other people but that you don’t like or feel right about? In that case, you need to learn to depend less on status symbols and have more confidence in your own success and life. Here are some suggestions about how to do that.

Look At Your Motivations

No matter what you do in life or how you do it, you will always need some kind of motivation to keep you going and make sure you reach your goals, no matter what they are. People will sometimes want to work hard and be successful so they can buy a Rolex watch or drive a sports car. That’s great; it’s important to be motivated in life.

Why do you do what you do? Is it the things we talked about above? Or is it another thing? Is it to spend more time with your family or to do something you enjoy instead of working hard at a job you don’t like? No matter what your reason is, if you don’t want to buy any status symbols, don’t. Keep to your own plans, and don’t worry about what other people have in mind.

Give Your Money Away

If you don’t know what else to do with your money and think you might be persuaded to spend it on status symbols even though you know they will make you miserable, why not give it away instead?

Being kind to others is a great way to show how successful you are. Even if you don’t tell anyone what you’re doing, you’ll know in your heart that you’re doing good things. If you used to like status symbols and have a number in your home, you might look for a way to sell them and give the money to people who are less fortunate.

This is the best way to make something out of your success because it will make you feel good and make up for the things you won’t have.

Choose Carefully

Or, as we’ve said before, if you want a status symbol, there’s nothing wrong with that. But you don’t need all of them, and buying them all will cost you money and won’t be as exciting as you might think.

If you want to buy something to celebrate your success, you should think hard about what you really want. You can decide between:

It’s up to you which one you choose, but it’s important that you buy it for your own reasons. Doing something just to make other people jealous or to impress them won’t make you happy in the long run.
